Rockstar Bondi doesn't even Exist
Australia, April 2, 2009
- Okay, it's time to let the proverbial cat out of the bag – April Fools! Grand Theft Auto: Harbour City is sadly the product of the sick minds at IGN Australia. It's not, nor is it likely ever to be, in development over at Rockstar. Sorry.
We did, however, try to make this sucker as convincing as possible, creating a logo that took design cues from Vice City and the thick, stylised fonts that we guessed Rockstar might tinker with – if they were to do something like this.
As awesome as an Aussie GTA could be - this isn't real. If we fooled you, however, consider us flattered! And Rockstar, feel free to enlist our services via the usual points of contact.
We also took a few design cues from real game development design documents – essentially a developer's blueprint for the content of a game.
However, a couple observant readers picked up on our little hint that this was a fake: On the cover (as well as the header of each page), we referred to the document as 'Vol. 14' – 14 standing for April 1 (1/4) – April Fools Day! Check out the full-sized documents below for a better look.
For those still not convinced, here are the documents themselves, as well as the fake Rockstar logo that we drafted for Rockstar Bondi – in fetchingly stereotypical green and gold:
Rockstar Bondi's logo - that is, if Rockstar Bondi actually existed. As of right now, Team Bondi retains its name.
