The Russians Have Connections in SA

I remember in San Andreas Smoke went to do some deals downtown with the Russians, then it went awry and Carl and Big Smoke were being chased by them. Not only that, but in a CRASH mission you had to go down to an industrial area and bust in on a Russian operation that they had with the Ballas. Could we possibly see some of San Andreas in GTA IV? If you remember, in SA, you got to go to LC for a mission...Maybe now it'll be vice versa. Just something to think about.

Ahh yeah, those few missions which oddly featured the Russian Mob in San Andreas, wonder if the C.R.A.S.H connection will get mentioned?

Haha, great thought there phreak, i guess it's possible now we know mostly where the location is in IV, nice to do that.

Gamaya 03-30-2007 02:53 PM

I definitely think that's gunna be a link.

phreak 03-30-2007 02:56 PM

I mean this makes me think Rockstar had a Russian guy as a main character planned all along. :)

Macey 03-30-2007 03:00 PM

Yeah it makes sense really. If there is a connection, I wonder if there's a mention about the certain fight in the dialogue somewhere

BUT then again, this is a completely different Liberty City, and the old Liberty City was used in San Andreas (Saint Marks Bistro) so if it does mention a connection then it would seem more like a continuity error.

True, true. But that doesn't mean a newer version of SA doesn't exist. I would love to go to a newer Las Venturas, Los Santos, or San Fierro. Maybe we'll go and perform another heist in a rival mafia's casino.

I had forgotten all about that.
You can be guaranteed that this will at the least be referred to in the new, upcoming GTA.

What would be cool is if you encounter CJ there.

FG 03-30-2007 03:19 PM

if there is a mission to SA you can count on it. cheers :)

I don't think that Rockstar initially planned to have a Russian Protaganist the whole time...but they definitely left the story open for connections..It cou'dve gone any direction...Asian with Wu Zi Mu, British with Kent Paul, or..the now obvious Russian mafia...

EDIT: I'm not saying you would play Wu Zi or Kent...but those characters in SA suggested that sort of theme for the following game

Ever since the trailer, the idea that GTA IV could include recreated versions of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas has grown stronger with me. Would definitely be extremely cool to see, and with these new capabilities available with next generation consoles, it's surely possible.
