O, Snap...

Just playing around on the official site, the countdown page, and something happened that hasn't happened before (I think)

I right-clicked on the clock and pressed forward on the pop-up menu... and it took me to http://rockstargames.com/IV/index2.html... whereas before I think it restarted the clock? Can't remember.

But this probably means everything, the site, the trailer etc. is already uploaded and ready to go, and all they need is the go-ahead on D-Day to make it viewable to the public... Which may dispell rumours of the trailer taking a half hour for them to load up on the site.

Jimmy_86 03-24-2007 05:54 AM

That is quite intesting, but when it goes to index2.html it gives me a 404 error so that would make me assume that nothing is online yet.

Roger Explosion 03-24-2007 05:55 AM

Yeah, I assume though that all they have to do is upload index2.html, and that the site itself has been completed.

Edit: Here's what I get now...
HTTP Error 404

404 Not Found

But when I posted this thread, I got a different message... can't recall what it said but it did indicate that the site is up but my access is forbidden.

Was it 403 forbidden error back then?

No... it was still a 404 I think, but the error message was completely different in format and wording, and at the end had some fleeting mention of some 'red alert' server or something... Rockstar's server? I dunno... it was just different.

.:nemesis:. 03-24-2007 06:09 AM

404 for me as well.

Roger Explosion 03-24-2007 06:11 AM

I've just changed the address to http://rockstargames.com/IV/index3.html to see what would come up, and it's the same error message that comes up now - '404 Not Found'. But I can tell you when I first posted the thread, something was - definitely - 'found'.

Ohh...you should've taken a snapshot of the page. :-( Anyhow, I'll randomly try that link to check if it is put up again.

.:nemesis:. 03-24-2007 06:13 AM

If that was the case you should have printscrenned it to post.

Same time Asif :P

Would it possible to use that program that people were using with the VCS site? The one which tells you as soon as the source on the page changes.

Yeah... I should have... but I thought that page was the norm... :(

R* always seem to use Flash on their sites, so I hope the video is Media Player/Realplayer compatible and not embedded Shockwave (i.e. not downloadable). I REALLY want a copy on my hard drive that I can analyse frame-by-frame.

Im not 100% sure but there is software out there that can extract data from ram to your HD. anyway doubt that it will be just released on the website.

Come to think of it, you're right - they will probably release the trailer to review sites like IGN, and there will be ways of getting hold of it. And as they're trailing the trailer on TV, it seems likely they may broadcast it via that medium as well.

Slim Trashman 03-24-2007 11:32 AM

This had been discovered over at GTAForums. Works every time you right click > Forward. So what this means is you'll be automatically be redirected to the trailer page.
