Does it print Americana dollars? Platinum coins?
Can it waggle?
You think a Chevy 454 has enough juice to drag it from a dead stop?

Severed Legham 02-01-2013 06:22 AM

I'm gonna be surprised if it impresses me.. Extra cpu/gpu isn't gonna cut it. And i'd be very surprised if they had some awesome game-changing gadget to go alongside it that we haven't heard of.

Same goes with next xbox.

iKlipse 02-01-2013 06:51 AM

Been wondering whether to get it or just get a pc... But I dont even know the first step about building them, let alone upgrading the parts to keep it up to scratch and dealing with software. Slip it in and play is how I roll ;)

Hard to think we're already in the PS3's SEVENTH Year considering the first few years were quite slow before it hit proper momentum. I also mentioned this yesterday with the GTA V delay, over the next few months Microsoft will be showing off their new console to, and EA will be starting to show their Next Gen work for the consoles, by the time GTAV does come out now, a hell of a lot of attention will be on the next gen stuff instead and GTAV is going to look very dated!

Didn't San Andreas also come out during a situation like that? I wouldn't worry too much about the sales of a GTA game.

EDIT: Nope. I was wrong. Well, still, I wouldn't really worry too much.

iKlipse 02-01-2013 08:27 AM

It'll take too long for the PS4 to be in alot of homes for developers to worry about releasing games for the PS3. Itll be there but even though its out, the ps3 will stay as the current-gen console for a little while until more titles are out to sell the console.

Interesting to see if it will carry 4K.

Severed Legham 02-01-2013 09:36 AM

Actually, ^4k would be interesting. I had a big discussion about bluray v dvd today, and how PS3 went for the better technology with the extra cost.. It honestly, in the grand scheme of things, saved bluray. Back then, they were going through the whole format war with HD-DVD and it was neck and neck. Bluray was incidentally getting in homes because of ps3.

The difference in that format war, was we were upgrading from DVD to Bluray... It was the same disc, but bigger capacity and better scratch resistance. Whereas when upgrading to DVD, we went from VHS which faded quality over time. So DVD fixed a problem and improved quality of picture. And Bluray just had improvements, no flaw fixes.. So it was kind of bold for sony to adopt a better technology when it could have saved tons of money by going with DVD and matching the competitors.

If sony go 4k and microsoft don't (or vice versa) I'm going to adopt the better technology... but I know thats not the mindset of the average consumer.. It mostly comes down to cost :/ Which is unfortnuate, but theres nothing I can really do about it.

also im drunkish so this might have trailed from point to point, but whatever

4K would lead to multi layer Blurays going into mass production and dropping the prices down even more. I dream of a day when I can buy a stack of 100Blurays without weeping at my empty wallet

Uncompressed 4K resolution video is about 2TB per hour, more or less. I have no idea how many megabytes a sec the bitrate is when compressed, but I have a feeling no single layer bluray will be around to witness it

What I want to see from this coming generation of consoles is an embrace of the tech behind VR headsets and etc. That would be a leap

Not even interested in purchasing. 400 price tag, here we come.

Well, here's a bit more info:

More powerful than next Xbox, easy to work with, and some nifty controller tech and sharing ability. I'm sure next month or at E3 we'll know a lot more.

Building a PC is easy, but now is probably not the best time to do. The advantage of console hardware is that despite being less powerful technically, it is more specialized and doesn't have all the junk slowing it down that a PC does such as a big OS, etc. The term "coding to the metal" is often used and that's why you get games like The Last of Us, God of War, Beyond, Gears 3, Forza Horizon, etc... Games that would not be possible in equivalent or even more powerful (to a certain extent) PC hardware. The best time to invest in PC gaming is two or three years after the consoles launch. By then PC hardware will have a major advantage.

Yeah when I got my PS3 in 2006, Bully came out at around the same time. I ended up playing Bully on my PS3 more than any other game for quite some time.

Lol not gonna happen. The reason PS3 had a stupid price was because of Blu-Ray. Now that it has become a more established technology, Blu-Ray won't be an issue and there's nothing else in the system that would drive up costs. The PS4 is using mostly off the shelf parts (like the Vita) which still results in great hardware, but it's also cheaper and easier for developers to work with. I'd be shocked if it's any higher than $399 like the 360 when it launched. It looks like Europe has to wait until 2014 though while US and Japan get it this year. So that sucks.

Also not gonna happen. The CG stuff was shown in 2005 because devs hadn't had dev hardware for very long at all and the system was over a year and a half from being launched. Devs (especially first party) have had PS4 kits for a long time, and since the goal is to release it this year, they will have a lot of content ready.

Jap-O-Lantern 02-01-2013 01:32 PM

will only buy it if it has chad warden's seal of approval and also if this guy makes another video
