changed colors in carcols.dat (GTA IV)
In almost every case modders include readme files in their car-mod-packages which contain new lines for handling.dat, vehicle.ide and carcols.dat

I know that replacing the line "X" in carcols.dat will change the color of car "X" but some modders don't only include that line for the car but a completely new "col-section". example: for #0 black, 10,10,10-, black is standard. this and other values would now be replaced by others.

i guess this gives the car you are going to install an even better look but doesn't it also affect other cars which you have iinstalled before and that are supposed to be with the standard values??

Yeah, it does affect those cars. Sometimes mod authors include new lines for the col-section with numbers that aren't previously used. I forget how high the numbers can go (it might be in the file somewhere as a comment) but you can change them manually if you see any car colors conflicting.
