what do you think?

this is what I have at the moment.

AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2 Dual core processor 3800+ 2.00Ghz
2GB ram
Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT 1GB
windows 7 64bit
I have everything in gta4 set to low or off and draw distance set to 10 and it runs great.

now I am thinking of getting the following.

Gigabyte AM2+ Nvidia 720 DDR2 ATX A L
AMD PhenomX4 9650 Quad Core AM2+ 4MB 2.3GHz
Corsair Memory 4GBKIT (2X2GB) 800MHZ NON ECC CL5

how much faster would it make gta 4 run and how high could I set the graphics to. if I get the new bits?

Your framerate on your current settings will boost quite a bit, but unless you update the graphics card too, you won't be able to get any of the higher quality features like more detailed shadows, water, textures, etc.
