GTA IV SUDDEN LAG

PC SPECS:
ATI HD4890 1GB
AMD PHENOM QUAD CORE 3.0 GHZ
4GB RAM

I have patched it up to 1.0.4.0...and i have all the settings at very high!!

When i am playing the game runs SUPER EXTRA SMOOTH!!but there are times where suddenly it lags for a few seconds and then goes on to being normal!!

what causes this lag?how can i stop it?

try pushing the settings down a bit? I know it's awesome to have super awesome high settings, but I've personally found medium to low settings still give you console gta iv graphics, give or take a little bit, and the performance is made much better whilst still looking good.

mods could also be a problem

i have only added 2 shirts one pair of shoes and a cap..nothing more!!and i like to push it because si love the way it looks on the pc...if i wanted it to be a bit downgraded i'd try playing it on my 360 or ps3!!maybe a patch or something?

double post but sorry...i kust did some tests...after putting all the settings to low i still had that momentary lag and after having alla the settings maxed out i still get the same momentary lag that i explained in my first post!!!why is it doing that/?

memory leak is a bug in the program, which does not clear parts of the data in the memory when its no longer needed. there really isnt any way to get rid of them seeing that its up to the developer to fix them, i.e..patches.

i get the same problem to when i run gta 4 on high settings, usually is though its because my graphics card is getting too hot, at least thats what it is for me. so you could always try to find a way to keep the your case cooler and see what happens
