ok so i just wanted to throw a topic up there because ive been wondering this for a while now and just wanted to see what u guys had to say about this. So since I heard GTAIV is supposed to be using uphoria the same engine for the star wars, indian jones and backbreaker games ive noticed that the euporia engine in starwars from watching the engine demos that it allows propertys like metal to be able to bend and just act like they would in real life situations. Ive also noticed in one of the trailers forgot which one for exactly of the top of my head right now but it shows a cop car hitting a deisle comming at it and the damage looked pretty damn realistic from the part that hit the diesle that hit the cop car and deformed into a perfect indentation of what part it hit the deisle on the fron and just looked like it had that metal bending characteristic from what i thought. Also I remember reading one of the reviews and after sniping or killing one of the people explaining it as him hitting the car and the roof smashing in. One of the latest things ive heard that i just thought kinda gave off a little hint or atleast i thought it did is when sam houser explained his "favorite gta experience" and he was talking about the part where the cars "crunched together". I just kinda cought on to these details and made me wonder if they actually are going to be putting that kind of car damage in and if not i think it would probly be a pretty insane addition with all the other stuff that i keep hearing that keeps amazing me. just a thought what do u guys think about this possibly being in the game and if not already confirmed that i didnt hear about?

Did you mean this demo (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gAQ_j23PtWc)? Then, that's not Euphoria. It's DMM, less likely to be used in IV since it's an exclusive item (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/theforceunleashed/ gameinfo/news/technology.html) for Lucas arts till September, 2008.

Also I remember reading one of the reviews and after sniping or killing one of the people explaining it as him hitting the car and the roof smashing in.

According to some previews earlier, it's visualized in the trailer 3, (1:14).

I hope that roof crunch wasn't scripted or pre-moddelled. Games never model damage to the roofs of cars, lets hop gta4 will change that

Ohh alright true true, didnt notice that. Thanks for clearing that up but im wondering if rockstar will try to work in something simular but exclusive in their own way. Dont know excatly what but just a nice thought ya know? And about the paragraphs and stuff, seems pretty reasonable ill put some effort into the punctuations next time cuz it does look pretty intense to read haha.

I'm hoping it uses some kind of physics based damage system. I'm not expecting it to be like DiRT or Burnout Paradise, but if Mafia could do it however many years ago it came out, GTAIV should be able to as well.

Burnout's physics-based car deformation system is amazing, and perfectly addresses the roof issue you speak of. I loved how when your car falls on its roof, you can hear the high-pitched squeaking sound as the metal supports are bending.

Im pretty sure the damage model extends to the roof aswell.. the cop car that get smashed by the truck in trailer 3 (?), looks like nothing we've seen before in GTAs

Hopefully damage to the bottom of the car will be included in the game too.

yea thats whats always bothered me about GTA games: th eroof was never even scratched lol

maybe this time aroudn when you like sideswipe a guard rail there will be paint missing from your car and that whole side messed up, not like just the door or the fender etc...

If the car damage is anything close to or better than Saints Row, I'll be cool with it.

I thought motorcycle damage was already confirmed.

If not I must have dreamed it.

Well there was the one where they were riding a faggio while listening to R Kelly, I don't think they mentioned anything about damage though.

You're right Jimmy. It was at the PSM3, they were focusing more on the cop chase.

Maybe it'll be something like in burnout paradise city, you crash into a wall head on and the car like crumples the way you hit it, taking in all the angles and what-not.
