What is the first thing you will do once you start to play gta iv for the first time?

I'll go with the main story to start with, but I might do something like mug a guy if I see him while walking down a back alley, or take a scenic route to get to a mission, possibly hold up a small store if they bring that back from Vice City (that would be cool - the money increase the longer you stood there, although I reckon your wanted level shouldn't go up unless they set off their alarm or a pedestrian sees you and phones the cops).

After waiting in line all night, i will try not to speed home, also trying to keep my eyes on the road and off the art book/ box art. When I get the game in I will probably just cruise the streets for a bit, getting the controls down. Once i feel fimiliar with the controls and some of the neighborhoods surrounding my safe house, i will start with the missions, passing the controler maybe every 10 deaths.. maybe. After that i might check the multiplayer; although im more interested in the story.
I will probably use the safety deposit box to stash my pistol and drugs. :cool:

2.- Close all curtains in my apartment.
3.- Take out the Coca Cola from the fridge and the chips from the kitchen closet.
4.- Place all rugs and covers from my bed on the floor in the best position, center screen.
5.- Turn on the TV (I recently bought a Sony Bravia 46" TV, which should make the game even better).
6.- Turn on the surround sound.
7.- Turn on my PS3 and put my GTA4 in it (It's almost like sex isn't it?).
8.- Watch the ENTIRE beginning. That means all pre-game stuff like DMA logo, Rockstar logo, intro movie and so on.
9.- Start the game. I suspect that, like in previous games, you will be thrown into a mission right after the first movie. I'll do that mission first.
10.- As soon as I'm on my own with no strings attached from any missions waiting for me in the cellphone, I'll go explore.
11.- EXPLORE! I'll get a gun (Just to be safe) and get any car that isn't a bus, a truck, a tank or one of those frickin' Mananas (Those cars have pretty much managed to suck in every GTA game so far). Just a nice, normal sedan will do me fine. First I will not break the law. Just drive around and look at the beautiful city (Like a tourist). I'll even stop for a red light. As soon as some cop hassles me, I'll answer back by hassling them. Not shooting or anything. I'll just wait until THEY start shooting at me. Then I'll shoot back. This way I will get on bad terms with the police. So a couple of months later, when the game is finished and all that's left to do is explore and get into trouble, and my stats say that I've killed 5000 people, blown up 600 cars, 60 helicopters, 70 boats and 300 motorbikes I can say: "Well, THEY started it". :D

Honestly, will sound odd, but put the game on, watch the opening cutscene, pause it and go to the Radio Stations and just let the first one play whilst I completely read the manual and see if I can find any in-jokes. After that, un-pause, grab a car and take a quick ganders around for a few hours.

From looking at the map, it seems R* have no possible way of blocking you from going into Dukes, a place that looks to be where i'll hang out mostly. This gives you a third of the map to play around in, and thats just at the start of the game!

P.S. Unless ofcourse theres a river that can't be seen from the map OR they have cordoned of Dukes by using police barracades. Both are unlikely though.

Since everyone else have been saying the same thing, ill tell you all my whole ritual. Starting when I get home hopefully at around 12:30-1AM after the midnight release. The day before I'm gonna buy a shitload of snacks and soda. Get out my cooler and fill it with those ice packs and various sodas and energy drinks. Box of tissues so my controller wont get wet/greasy. Make my bed as comfortable as possible[thats where ill be playing it most of the time.] Also buy a 4 pack of AA Batteries for the controller. SOOO then ill pop in the game and wait for the loading screen to finish and while its loading look through the booklet and all the SE goodies. Once it loads watch the cut scenes and everything and do the first mission. After the first mission, i'm gonna just walk/drive around and shit like that. Test out the fighting system. Then continue with the story.

One of the 1st things i 'm going to do when i'm on single player is call 911 then steal the cops car and look up all the names of the people that they mention on rockstargames.com in the ads like jeremy st. ives, brian o'toole (lcpd) and put a bullet in their head. i've already written the names of all the npc's that have been noted so far an can't wait to kill them all...

initially im going to follow the story, cos I dont think niko went to LC to commit crimes and mass murder, he just ends up doing that cos he realises his cousin doesnt have a mansion and that his gonna have to earn some dough somehow. First chance I get im gonna get hammered at Steinway Beer Garden (hopefully that ability hasnt been edited out for aus), until then hopefully there is a pub in the starting area.

See if I can pick up a hooker (Aus Version) if I can....i will cop a bit of head then beat the bitchin ho up for my money back.

Then I wouldnt mind seeing how hard it is to successfully steal an FBI car and get away with it (keeping in mind that you cant hop in another car when out of the cops FOV)....and maybe go at watch the Liberty City Swingers play (how cool would that be.......id start shooting the players if it wasnt going the way I wanted)

Since everyone else have been saying the same thing, ill tell you all my whole ritual. Starting when I get home hopefully at around 12:30-1AM after the midnight release. The day before I'm gonna buy a shitload of snacks and soda. Get out my cooler and fill it with those ice packs and various sodas and energy drinks. Box of tissues so my controller wont get wet/greasy. Make my bed as comfortable as possible[thats where ill be playing it most of the time.] Also buy a 4 pack of AA Batteries for the controller. SOOO then ill pop in the game and wait for the loading screen to finish and while its loading look through the booklet and all the SE goodies. Once it loads watch the cut scenes and everything and do the first mission. After the first mission, i'm gonna just walk/drive around and shit like that. Test out the fighting system. Then continue with the story.

ive been joking with my friends that ill take a bus to a bar, get drunk, and go kill some homeless people. however, i dont know how that bus thing works.. i heard rumors that u could take buses and taxis wherever you wanted to go.. and by take, i mean ride, not steal (lol)

I've already planned what I'll do.

Me and a friend will go pick up like 15 copies that we pre-ordered for us and friends who live nearby, and then we'll go to his place, and try to test multi-player as soon as possible. The idea is to explore the city a bit together, at least, thats what he thinks...

As soon as we're in the game, I'm gonna betray him and either beat him to death, or run him over in a car as a surprise attack. He'll never see it coming.

Now I just hope he isn't planning the same thing >.>

maybe check out free roam to see the city a little without worrying about getting into trouble with cops right away in story mode. then after about 30 mins-1hour i willl start the story

I like doing missions, so I bet I will do quite a few before I get into a total brainless rampage... That way I will also learn the basics of the game... But the first thing I will do when the game starts, is to crawl up to the top of something, whether it's a telephone pole or a roof top... I just have to see how easily it can be done... Once Algonquin is unlucked, I will go mad, explore everything, climb the side stairs on any building, adore the view... Damn it, 20 days never seemed this long...

Hopefully I will be so awed by the whole mood and dynamics of the environment, that I'll feel bad about just jumping head on into carnage. I'll probably be discovering the neighborhood first, climbing stuff and crusing around. Look for at good fistfight, nothing too dramatic at first.

True very true... earlier on in this subject i said i would run around wreaking havoc. Deep down i know im not going to do that at all... neither are some others... when it turns on you will shocked and you wont know where to move etc.. it will be unreal.

after taking in the view, my first port of call will be jacking someone, as cars are what GTA is all about, you gotta find out how they feel!

then just go for a nice cruise around to take in the sights, before getting on with the missions probably

gosh, you guys seem so... anxious. lol

- ok, the first thing i'm gonna do is make sure i have some really good weed for the occasion (hydro).
- then i'll put in the game and take my first puffs while watching the intro.
- after the intro, i'll do the first mission (or how ever many it takes to get to free roam)
- first thing i'll do in free roam..... get a gun (i mean c'mon. this is grand theft. i've GOT to have a gun)
- then i'll tour the available part of the city and investigate things like building interiors, the in game internet, maybe a bar
- after i'm comfortable with the neighborhood its time to test out things like physics, explosions, and AI
- best way to do that is walk up to a police car at an intersection and put some bullet holes in the windshield (gotta see what the cops are really made of)
- after that, then i'll be ready to continue with the missions
- as far as online is concerned, that idea about taking 16 guys to the police station and starting a war sounds really fun. HEY MAN, can i join you guys??!!

you know whats really great? the fact that when i'm home alone and awe struck by this game, i don't have to be in awe alone. i can go online and share comments with other players who just got the game. saying things like, "damn man. this the best damn game there is."
its small, but i think it adds a quality. the fact that you can share the experience
