I want to make a stunt movie for vice city but the only video screen capture software ive found is fraps and 4 sum weird reason it wont record :confused: it reckons im playin vc in 8-bit not 16 or 32 bit color but i am playing in 16 bit. n e ways lol does any1 know what other software is out there that does the same thing...but work lol?

play in 32 bit. Fraps removes all the lag.

lol i tryed it and all it gave me was the "blue screen of death" and rebooted itself lol I uninstalled Fraps now

i tried fraps and i could record alright, but i couldnt watch my videos??? any1 know why? some error??? it was along time ago when i uninstalled it so i cant remember wot the error said.

were all your file that it made 2 KB? cos that means its recording in 8 bit not 16 or 32 bit

When i use Fraps i can watch my movies but they are all really choppy. i cant really make out anything. Help!

It means that fraps set to record in 15fps half size. Make fraps record on 30fps full size, it works for me and i have a crappy Video card (Intel (r) 845g Graphic Controller)

but cheap fraps settings are... half the size, restricted fps, or lowered quality. it can all be changed in the program itself

are you running the free version?

Hi, Something I think that should be mentioned for people who don't have much experience in making Fraps videos is how to increase the playback framerate for the finished product and a trick you can use to reduce those huge .avi files.

If you have a harddrive that runs at 7200 RPM or less, you should have the Vice City screen size set to 640x480 before you start recording. If you have a 7200+ RPM harddrive, it should be set to 800x600 at the most. Anything higher than this will cause your videos to have a low framerate making it look jerky when you watch it (unless of course you have some kind of super-computer ). Although the game will look crappy when you are playing it, the screen size does not effect the overall quality of video, it just reduces the max size of the playback window to 640x480 or 800x600. You only lose quality when you increase the size of the playback window when you are watching it later, allthough it isnt very much depending on what size video stream you used to compress it (i.e. a video stream @3mbps will run at a perfect resolution in a 640x480 window). If you own the 2.0 version of Fraps, click on the 'movies' tab and make sure 'full-size' is selected this means it will recording using the full size of the screen (which should be 640x480 or 800x600) and making an output file of an equivalent screen size.

I use a program that is excellent for video editing (but it also costs quite a bit, about $750) called Vegas 4.0. I always convert the .avi files to a .wmv format @ a 3mbps video stream, for an even smaller file size, try making the video stream run @512kbps this dramatically reduces the output file size. So if possible always try converting the .avi files to a file type that has a better compression ratio. I have a stunt video that I made that goes for 3min 15sec, when its compressed @ 3mbps the filesize is only 61.6meg, when compressed @ 512kbps its only 12.1meg, a 20 second .avi file is usually about 100meg, so the reduction in file size is massive

no problem... works for me. if you have the latest version, i think you'll be fine.

windows movie maker is cool for a free file. but i think adobe premiere is more professional. you can make some nice stuff with that. if youve got it, you should give it a try. its a bit confusing though :D

TOTALLY wrong... if your HD lags a tiny fart your video can get some lag... if so, try recording over again.
