I get an annoying lag only in rain, smoke and when water is splashing. Is there any way to fix this.

My Specs:
P4 2.6Ghz Using Hyper Threading 512k L2 Cache
ECS 648FX-A MotherBoard 800Mhz FSB
512MB PC3200 Memory @400Mhz
nVidia GeForce 3Ti200 64MB AGP 4X on ForceWare v53.03 Drivers.
OnBoard Realtek AC97 Audio
Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm ATA100 HDD
Windows XP Professional (2600)

Thanks.
Shivanand.

I am thinking that its your video card why?? I think your p4 is to fast for it. But dont go change your video card because of me i am not sure but i am guessing it is.

Accually I bet it is the Video card. I have a 128mb GeForce card and I have the same problem. You either have to deal with it or edit the particle.cfg file.

You shouldn't really think about coupling a P4 2.6GHz with anything less than a Geforce 4ti card unless you want bottlenecking. My advice - buy a cheap Radeon 9600 XT, they only cost about $150 and they will take away all the issues you have with all of your games, including Vice City. I'm not a big fan of nVidia anymore since I bought a FX5600 that really does suck

It might also be an idea to turn HyperThreading off when you're playing games.

check your PC stats...i cant remember where you go to find out, but on mine (i have XP) it says nVidia when it starts up. Or you could find your reciept from your PC. I dunno...i guess as long as your graphics are good, then it doesnt really matter...

ya know what i just noticed....Neil double posted....lmao

In the start menu click on run then type dxdiag and click ok. When its finished loading up click on the Display tab at the top and it tells u info bout ur graphics card

Do ATIs really have no proble with smoke and dust? I think I know what im getting next. My 128mb NVidia suck when it it comes to smoke, shadows and reflections.

Im looking at a 256mb Radeon 9200. $90. Any body know if its any good? I dont want to spend $200 on a 9600 or a Fx 5700. I go cheap.

I have Intel Video Crad too, Vice City runs fine. If San Andreas would have VC's game engine im good, if not, New Video card time.

If you're looking at a Radeon 9200, you'd be better with a Radeon 9600 XT. They cost about $150 and will give you way better performance than anything in the same price bracket. They also come bundled with a voucher for a free copy of Half Life 2.

Intel do not make Video Cards. What you've probable got is a chip built onto your motherboard which acts as a video card. Unfortunately, these aren't very good at all, and usually it'll mean they've skimped on the AGP slot, meaning you can't upgrade to a decent model very easily at all.

I'm gonna run GTA3 again. Can someone tell me a really good Videocard which will run it fine. I've probably said in other threads that it's been a long time since I've played GTA3 and also, that I need to get a new videocard.
