MGS4 to 360 Rumors Again...

01 January 2008 -- XboxFamily.com claims that a Konami distribution representative said that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the Xbox 360. Speaking at a distribution meeting, the Konami rep allegedly informed XboxFamily.com that MGS4 had been in development for the Xbox 360 since early 2007 and will be released for the 360 between 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves.

XboxFamily.com contacted Microsoft’s PR manager John Porcaro via email and received a response.

Y'never know, do you? And 12 to 14 months is a good time for a timed exclusive, I wouldn't mind. Nowadays with development costs and such, it's a better decision to release on more than one platform.

Dumbasses. I'm still getting DMC4 for PS3 for my birthday. Good timing, too, it's a few weeks before my birthday. And MGS4 is rumored (meaning Gamestop/EBGames dates) to release June 17, which is the day we get out of school. That would equal win in epic proportions.

Konami fanboy doesn't directly translate into Sony fanboy. I doubt they'll boycott shit because they're fanboys and anything that Konami does is right. They could release a game where all you do is pet cute animals and clean up their shit and it would still be considered world renown to them.

Besides, do you really expect that Konami will make the Kojima studio rebuild the entire game just so it can fit on a DVD? It's been one of the first confirmed to be using the new 50 gb Blu-Rays on PS3, so how the hell are they going to get by Microsoft's strict one-disk-only policy?

It's just really confusing, I mean Kojima is dead set against it going on the 360 and you'd think he'd have control over that, but of Konami were THAT desperate to get it on the 360 (Don't know why exactly, 360 sales are TERRIBLE in Japan) then they will force the team to port it.

Those are RPG games, they need the space.

For something that keeps you on your heels like MGS4, I'm not too sure if 3 discs would be a great idea. Sure it's just walking up to the 360 and changing discs, but it's like... bad. Too many calories burned.

Nah jk. But I recall Kojima saying that 50GB still wasn't enough to hold MGS4. So assuming that the game is around that point, that'd be quite a few DVDs.

But Piggus has got a point. Why would be reveal such news to a literally unknown Xbox fansite?

Ash: MGS has a bigger audience in the U.S. than Japan last I heard. And many PS2-owners now own an Xbox 360, and are very hopeful for MGS4 on the 360. It'd make sense, if even half as many people bought MGS4 as Halo 3, that combined with PS3 profits would be a very high amount of money.

There have been more than 120 million PS2s sold worldwide to date. A lot of the former PS2 owners, especially the more casual gamers, are either waiting for the next PS3 price drop/good games to come out or buying a Wii. MGS2 did pretty damn bad on the original Xbox... it's just not a series that has traditionally appealed to the Xbox crowd. The only reason some of the 360 people want it on the 360 is because it would be a pretty big blow for the PS3. Most people I know wanting to get a PS3 are waiting for MGS4...

You have to remember, Piggus, this isn't the Xbox of old. Most people who own a 360 have wider gaming tastes than just Halo. The Xbox 360 has sold very well, and has hordes of games to chose from. The original Xbox was kinda shit with its games. The 360 has vastly improved this and MGS4, even multi disc, would sell well imo.

PS2 was way ahead of Xbox, in everything because MS was new to the console industry and didn't have much support/sales. That's probably why MGS didn't do too well before. Things are different now.

But I really wouldn't care, and if you're a fan of the series, why wouldn't you want the game to be marketable to more people? I think you're being greedy. :)

Kojima said it himself that he didn't want it on the 360. Even if it did go to it on 3/24 discs or whatever, As Piggus said, The news wouldn't come from a site like this.

The spinning waterwheel on the churning Metal Gear Solid 4 rumour mill has spun so hard during the New Year that it has now shaken its self loose and shot off down the river of fanboy denial… while gaming Web site XboxFamily watches on forlornly and wipes a healthy dose of egg from its face.

And why? Because its "from the horse’s mouth" claim that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is definitely coming to the Xbox 360 (and has been in production since 2007) has now been officially riddled with holes thanks to a statement from publisher Konami.

Speaking to TheGameReviews.com, the Japanese gaming giant has once and for all said that: "For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game."

I mean this is what...the 20'th time that we've heard "oh MGS4 is absolutely coming to the 360" only to have the rumor squashed by the company that is actually making the game. It used to be cute. Slightly amusing. Now it's borderline pathetic.

Well just wait till next week when the Janitor's Daughter's best friend's uncle's brother's nephew's father's son swears on the bible itself that it's coming to the 360. Then we get to do this all over again. :)
