We've gotten hints recently that Sony's DivX support would be coming right on the heels of Microsoft's most recent update. If you turned on your PlayStation 3 late last night, you saw it hit. The 2.10 update enables DivX and WMV videos and brings its Blu-Ray profile to 1.1, which includes enhancements like "Picture-in-Picture" viewing for supported discs. It also has a voice changer in the Settings, so you can hide the fact that you're only 13 years old in deathmatches.
Not content to just update one system, Sony updated the PlayStation Portable as well. This latest update to version 3.80 adds internet radio to the mix, so if you want to access music without filling your memory stick you can always go that route. The Playstation.Blog has instructions on how to use the feature.
But wait, there's more! Kotaku reports Sony has made the PSP Media Manager free...in Japan. It's only available, at the moment, from the Japanese PlayStation Store, but Kotaku notes that after the Japanese-language install, the program itself runs in English. This should make it easier for PSP owners to manage their multimedia content -- but why no domestic release? We like music and movies, too!
Pretty nice, but voice changers? Meh.
