Getaway 3?

Did that get canceled or something? It was really alive at the start of this year and last year but now its just quiet. The screens look really nice but wtf happened to it? Anyone know?

The Getaway 3 was just a tech Demo for the PS3 to start with, that's the one we all saw at E3 and photos of, etc. The Actual game started production soon after, the game is still in development.

Were the early screens real-time on PS3 hardware?

It was, yes.
Phil Harrison was running the demo off a PS3 and he was moving the camera etc with Sixaxis and it looked stunning.

The only downside was since it was very very early, there were no pedestrians, cars etc so maybe once they are added, it won't look as nice.


This and '8 Days' are games that suddenly disappeared but as Phil says, they don't show 1st party games unless they are 100% happy with them.
Killzone2 for example, they waited 2 years to show it after the initial CG render and I think it met most expectations.

So, you just gotta keep on waiting with the knowledge and comfort that once you do see these games, you won't be disappointed.

There was supposedly some low key SCEE or SCEA event held last month showcasing both Eight Days and The Getaway 3. Haven't heard too much about it, though.

The demos of Getaway 3 looked awesome, but I think GTA4 looks better. As a Eight Days that game looks hella fun, but I don't know if that one was on real hardware.

It was all graphics smaphics and had terribly boring gameplay.

Getaway 2 was alright, fun game, but nothing on GTA: SA.

There were 3 games I was really looking forward to, they were; Eight Days (http://au.ps3.ign.com/objects/748/748494.html), 2 Days To Vegas (http://au.ps3.ign.com/objects/744/744412.html) and Getaway 3 (http://au.ps3.ign.com/objects/748/748448.html).

No information since those screens have been released not even the slightest word, except for Getaway, sometime late last year an actual trailer was released and it looked magnificent but nothing since. I hate it when they do that.
