download the client, get a server IP, get it's port, and connect. Use ASE. A full tutorial is on codenamevice.co.uk (Click MTA Tutorial)

MTA says that only win2000 and up can use it.
is there a way to play with win98

when i try to connect i get a cant find handly.cfg or sum mta i have mta installed..

yeah when you use mta you should start off fresh. actually for almost any major modification to the game you should do it from a re-install or a separate new installation.

it does tell you that you need a fresh install almost everywhere, why don't people read the readme's?
