When I go into Vice city some of the textures on the road and buildings look dull or they just dissapear completly. I dont have any problems with fps but the textures are especially bad when I play MTA.
My video card is a 128mb nVidia GeForce MX 440se with the latest driver. Could it be a problem with RAM? I only have 256mb.
Also, if I do get another video card should I get a 256mb fx 5200 or a 256mb Ati Radeon 9200? Thanks :D
I have the GeForce 4 and mine is fine, i think there is a patch to help this problem somewhere. I have herd people talk about it, i just cant remember the name of it.

I have exactly the same problem as you. So it can't be anything wrong with our graphics cards  I always thought its because I only have a crappy Nvidea TNT 2, 32 meg card but you have a good card so god knows whats wrong with it
Is the patch you are on about the upgrade from version 1.0 to 1.1 ZERO?

set the draw distance to full and use the draw distance editor. it loads textures faster (sometimes on MTA textures dont load for me as well)

You need to go into display option's and turn the frame limiter ON should solve the problem :)

@guitar slinger: Thats not usually the solution (it changed NOTHING for me).
@mouldy punk: if you have a no CD patch, it changes the game file. use a clean version of gta-vc.exe

I found the Draw Distance editor and it didnt make much difference
Sum things arnt that dull half-loaded sorta thing but there is stil alot of stuf that doesnt load it actualy made it worse becos it is still not loading all the textures but im loosing the fps as if it was loading all the textures

Thats what I hate about computers is you have to update them all the time. Go to www.tigerdirect.com. The 256mb cards that im debating over are only $100 there.

The video card may not be causing these problems. See if the hardware acceleration is set to full in the display properties.

It is. Unfortuantely my PC can only run on 4x AGP so I cant get the full bennifits from thae card until I get a new computer or motherboard.
But the 6800 will have an incredible effect on performance compared to the one I have right now.

umm thats the 5600 and theres not much differnce beetween the 6800 and the 5600 other than price chk it do your homework get a side bus graphics card its an addon to your video card you use i dont know the name of it my buddy has it we havnt found a game that even pushes the two cards together so all together you wont have to update for at least the next 5 years and youll be able to play most anything beetween now and then

Accually I was concidering a 5900xt made by XFX for $200. The 6800 uses a new pixel shader system and five times the shadow capabilities of the 5900. I mostly want to take advantage of this for Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 and I want to try Far Cry as well. The 6800 also has 12 rendering pipelines and even the RADEON 9800xt only has 8. But I cirtainly will check out the addon that your talking about. If you check out the Nvidia confrence video for the 6800 you will see some really amazing lighting and pixel shading effects.
