hi,
i've got vice city for the pc. and when i go through the radio stations,
the music does not play. but when i look in the audio folder, the music is
there, but as an '.adf' file.

how can i get around this? can i download the music, as an mp3 format, and
then rename them as radio stations. would this work?

any help/ advice is appreciated.

thanx

hmm. this is odd.

What size files are the ADF files? if they are too small, you probably need to re-install.

OR : go into options > audio and put music volume up

Well if your game is store bought re-install it... Again. or mess with your in game audio settings. Make sure the music is installed on your hard drive.

when u installed vc, did you tick the "Install Vice City Radio" box?

Otherwise, your audio card might not support .adf (or something)

And, the cutscene sounds have nothing to do with .adf

To check if your video card works, go to Options, and see if it is possible to click on "Audio Options" if not, your sound is not detected/supported. If you can, configure the audio options to make it work.

i can go on audio options and ive had a go at different settings and i still cant get the radio stations. My sound card is definatly supported cos i can hear the city sounds, engine noises etc, i can also use the mp3 radio station and i did tick the install vc radio box

i think your sound card is faulty, if it plays some sounds and doesn't play others.

I had the same problem with the audio missing from the cut-scenes and with the radio not playing as it should. I have found a solution for my problem. Since the game automatically detects your sound hardware, in my case a SB Audigy card, it is set as the default device. I changed the following while in the in-game settings:

Options->Audio Setup->Audio Hardware->RAD Game Tool RSX 3D Audio

When set to Creative Audigy EAX or Creative Audigy EAX 3 there would be no sound from the music playing. Experiment with your audio settings and see what works for you! There is even a Software Emulation setting.

@ james : yes it is
@ guerilla : I re-installed and messed around with those settings , tried every setting in every combination and still no luck

Oh yeah:

Check your Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Audio tab to be sure that your sound card is selected as your Default device. If I encounter a different solution I will surely post it! :D

Ok, hey, ummm, this might not help but...
I downloaded this tool and it converts .adf files into .mp3 formats so it's really cool you can listen to the radio stations even when you're not in-game, you can listen to them in Windows media player (or wutever your prefered program is, since most support .mp3 files) so yeah, it's a pretty cool tool

I forgot the site where I got it from, but i found this one instead: http://www.zone.ee/realgtavc/Programs.htm
Look for "MP3 to ADF to MP3 Converter 1.0", it should be useful...and fun

SHIT SORRY, THE SITE DOESN'T WORK, BUT YOU CAN STILL TRY
