http://www.videogamer.com/news/06-12-2007-7049.html
looks like Sega is makeing a comeback with a Dreamcast 2, will be interesting to see how it competes with PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360
from the article it seems like it will have some of the same ideas as a wii

i doubt it could compete. unless SEGA takes some of the best of all 3 consoles, and makes it better, which i think could be hard to do. Plus, with some of the recent games i've played from SEGA (most notably the rally one), they haven't been real good, so i don't know how their games would measure up either
Wow, I think it's a long shot but it's definately possible.

Maybe if they did it with some agreement with another electronic company. Like teh Sega Panosonic or Ikea's Dreamcast assembly required.
Hopefully they won't enter in the middle of the console war like they did last time.

I could of sworn Nintendo bought SEGA a while ago?

When i saw this thread name my heart started beating faster.
I SO hope they bring out another Dreamcast, or any kind of new console.
Sega are king.
Plus, that would make Shenmue III even more possible.

Yeah and not that awful Shenmue Online game.
Dreamcast was one of the best consoles I've ever owned. 2nd only to the PS1.

You probably would have if the thread read 'Dreamcast 2 being made' or something :P
No Shenmue III for me though :(
It's been debunked, Cant post a link to it but palgn.com sent SEGA and Email and they were informed that they were renewing and upgrading the patent license (or something like that). I'll post a link when i'm home and not on my PSP.
Ohh and SEGA only sold the rights to Sonic and a few other game characters, They didn't sell the Brand name itself to Nintendo.

Dreamcast 2 NOT in the making. (http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/06/debunk-sega-protects-the-dreamcast-trademark-not-doing-another/)
As it turns out, the recently filed trademark application is just a renewal on brand, and doesn't express any intentions to do another Dreamcast console. In fact, Sega further explained to GameDaily, rather flatly we might add, that they have "no plans to get back into the console business."

'no plans' usually turns into plans so there's still hope.
The console market is pretty much packed right now, but there might be hope for some medium success for the console, who knows.

The first one failed, a second one would too.
Failed because it wasn't as powerful as the PS2, and following that, the Gamecube and Xbox?

I read it was more powerful then the ps2, but didnt have enough time for developers to crack at it as long as they have done the ps2.
I know for a fact that if Sega realeased another console, i wouldnt hesitate to get it.
Dreamcast was a lej console, just come out at the wrong time :(

You can't recover from the total failure that dreamcast was, unless your company does other things besides games (sony, microsoft).

I still thought the original dreamcast was a great console.

Very very very very very few. But still interesting to see support.
And I'll put down $100 right now that they will not make a Dreamcast 2 or anything like it.
