Review:
Ahh, Assassin's Creed, the game in which i've drooled over more times than on my bedtime pillow. Assassin's Creed is a game which focus' around an Assassin, nonethless, His name is Altair, pronounced (AL-TY-EAR). Set during the Last Crusade this game comes off with a wonderful bang. Bang as in the graphics are aboslutely GORGEOUS. The Textures are dead on, and the draw distance is nothing short. (Literally) Although there will be minor object popping up, it's just minor for a game like this you know? The Map itself is pretty big, it will take you a good 8 minutes to 10 minutes, or even more if you're exploring, to cross the 'Kingdom' and that's without Galloping (Which I hadn't used). Now before I delve into the good, let's look at the bad.
There can be random times where you'll be walking and if you don't postion right, you'll climb something, which causes the pedestrian next to you to completely FLIP OUT and warn a gaurd and say, 'OMFG WTF'. In which every gaurd in the vicinity will come and try to kill you. This is an annoyance but can easily avoided if given the chance. Another annoyance is that the 'twist' is given in the first 5 minutes, which isn't a COMPELTE annoyance as it's more of, 'hmm, seems a bit early for such a SUPRISE huh?' It's like getting HIV before having sex. Glitches do plauge this game a bit, from no objectives, and view points not showing up, to freezing. (PS3 seems to be having this problem alot) A patch should be issued within time, if they're not too lazy. There's one more bad, but I'll leave it in a spoiler tag since it relates to the ending.
Now the good! Wow, where can I begin? This game has alot going for it, the graphics are godly, the voice acting is spot on, and the characters are mostly distinct from one anohter. The animation are perfect, from jumping, running, climbing, to assassinations, it's all done well. The sound design is really good too, but I feel as though they used the 'Person says 2 lines and resays them until you do something about it' too much. For example, there would be free missions to go around and help a citizen that is being harassed by gaurds, you'll CONSTANTLY hear, 'I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD THIEF!', 'HEATHEN, STOP!', 'TIME YOU DIE', or 'HELP HELP PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!' 'WHAT HAVE I DONE?'. It's nice to hear the first time, but if you're off doing something else, it gets cumbersome. I wish they added more variety in that department. There's NUMEROUS amount of things you can collect in this game also, different kinds of flag mostly and alot of Free missions, and achievements to get.
Overall I give the game a 9/10!
It's a rental though, since it IS part of a trilogy and unless you plan on getting the collectors edition, I wouldn't plan on BUYING.
The Bad (Cont.):
The ending is too much of a cliffhanger, leaves ou wondering alot, what happends to Desmond, and if Altair even escapes, it's a tad dissapointing
It's a bit late, so this review might be unstable in a few parts. :)

Assassin's Creed is game of the fucking year. Any GTA fan should check it out because it's only a preview for what we should expect in GTA4. The scale and geometry is amazing and it is by far the most immersive sandbox game I've played.

I doubt it's the game of the year. Technically...CoD4, Halo 3, and Mass Effect all got better reviews.

Halo 3's gonna get Game of the Year, mainly because it's a sequel to Halo 1 and 2.

great review, you would expect it to be a cliff-hanger though, there is going to be a series.

I doubt and Halo 3 will get GoTY and I hope it doesnt, Doesn't deserve it. Mass Effect is my prediction, But then again I haven't played it yet :(
Halo wont win because its basically Halo 2 in HD, Not to mention it pales in comparison to COD4.
Mass Effect is to glitchy and it doesn't do anything for the RPG genre,
Assassins Creed is a very glitchy and shallow game (very repetitive).
I'd say the only two games in with a shot imo are Mario Galaxy and COD4.

I was a little disapointed by Assassin's Creed. Its way too repetive. Every mission is the same. The story is brilliant but the way they ended it was really boring. If there is gonna be an Assassin's Creed 2 then I think EA needs to make it more customizable, Then you could customize your assassin clothing and weapons and the new logo and tell other assassins what to do. Team-based Assassination anybody?.
Maybe you should omit the spoiler from your post for those yet to play the game......

Mass Effect is to glitchy and it doesn't do anything for the RPG genre,
Nigguh please. You dont know what you're talking about.
It isnt glitchy, only thing ive noticed after playing it for over 6 hours is the textures take a moment to load basically everytime you go into a new area. Thats...it.
Theres been no other single player RPG thats done what mass effect has.

Besides it taking up to 10 seconds for textures to load i have experienced framerate drops, getting stuck to wall, 2 game lockups (which could be more to do with the poor 360 build quality) and NPC's getting lost. I have since read its due to them gettin stuck to walls too, All i was saying was these bugs are detrimental to the games experience imo. And games like COD4 and Mario are in better positions to win GoTY.
Also i'm interested in what ME does that no other RPG has, What is it?

it was fairly repetative but i think the story line was pretty good. Annoying you couldn't skip some of the cinematic screens though.

Lmao, yeah mate, when you say something stupid like that and not expect anyone who disagrees due to what you said being lame points to diss this game, then yeah, you dont know what youre talking about.
Seems like your games fucked up then. Cause ive not had any of that, except from the textures.
Also i'm interested in what ME does that no other RPG has, What is it?
Being able to use grammar when trying get your point across.
You sir are a tool, Defending a game and insulting me over my opinion is pathetic. But to defend a game and then make fun of my grammar in the same post, Thats just sad. Also i noticed you completely ignored my question, I'm still wating to hear what Mass Effect does thats never been done before.........

Lawl, i never insulted you for your opinion. I just think what you said was stupid, and the points you made arnt valid enough for me to agree with you. So basically i disagreed with what you said, and now you're getting emotional about it. Just cause you dont think it offers anything (which it does), dont mean others dont. Which is why were here doing this. Are you enjoying it, can tell you're getting the hump. lol.

When did i say it had nothing to offer? I actually like the game hence the reason i brougt it and haven't returned it. All i said was imo its got to many bugs and glitches to win GoTY, Then you said i dont know what i'm talking about. So i listed the problems i have encountered and you come up with the lamest excuse that "my game must be broken".
Once more i never said it had nothing to offer to anyone, So get your facts straight.
Also you still have not answered my question about what Mass Effect does thats never been done before. Or are you avoiding the question?

I thought it was mainly the PS3 version that suffered from all that graphical crap, Mine occasionally drops in framerate and sometimes the game freezes, All the characters/npcs etc lock-up except you can move the camera around. And I've had some friends complain about glitches as well on their 360 versions. It's Kinda retarded considering what this game could have been.
But you are indeed correct when you say these bugs prevent the game from winning, In my opinion it shouldn't even be considered a candidate.

Mass Effect is to glitchy and it doesn't do anything for the RPG genre
Thats where you said it.
Then you said i dont know what i'm talking about.
Thats because you dont, if the above statement says 'it doesnt do anything for the rpg genre', when it clearly does, well there ya go.
I'll tell you what it offers, and what it does for the RPG genre.
1. On pratically all single player RPG's you cannot travel to different parts of universe and or land and free roam around a small part of the planet.
2. The combat system, in past bioware games, combat has been turn/round based. This isnt. Its real time. And shooting guns in RPG's has never really been as thought out as this game is.
3. It has a cover system, no other RPG has a cover system.
4. The history and information available to you through out the game is enough to make wikipedia seem obsolete.
5. Squad commands on rpgs have been non existent, until now as far as i know.
That enough? I'm sure i could think of a few more points if you're not satisfied.
So i listed the problems i have encountered and you come up with the lamest excuse that "my game must be broken".
When did i say that?
I said it was fucked up, doesnt imply it to be 'broken' as you say. The game still works.
So, good going at reading and absorbing information that doesnt exist then used as a form of comback.
I said "it doesn't do anything for the RPG genre" that does not mean "it has nothing to offer". It means it didn't get me excited and hooked like say Oblivion or KOTOR did. And this is my opinion it aplies to my feeling, So how can you say i am wrong, So as you said good going reading and absorbing the information i posted and using it as a comeback".
Look i dont agree with what you say and you don't agree with my opinion, I'll leave it as that. But in the future instead of saying my opinion is stupid and unfounded why dont you just say "I don't agree with you and here's why.....". Just because our opinions are different doesn't mean yours is right and mine is wrong or vice versa. It means we have different tastes, Like they say "Opinions are like assholes, Everyone has one and they usually stink". But your comments are what initiated this and all because you attacked my opinion.
But what did you mean when you said "seems like your games fucked up then" if you weren't referring to it being stuffed?

I meant there was something wrong with it. Like when i got GTA 3 when i came out. It wasnt loading and shit properly and stupid things kept happening.
And i can say you're wrong when i present facts like the ones above to counter what you say. Its as simple as that really.
I dont see why it hasnt got you hooked. Its a great game. Saying this games got bugs and graphical issues isnt really stating an opinion, as its a colective thing really. Its either there or its not.
I meant there was something wrong with it. Like when i got GTA 3 when i came out. It wasnt loading and shit properly and stupid things kept happening
Wait so your saying there's something wrong with my game but it's not broken, What are you referring to then?
And i can say you're wrong when i present facts like the ones above to counter what you say. Its as simple as that really.
You cant say my opinion is wrong no matter what you think, That like me saying your taste in music is wrong. If i think the game has to many graphical issues and doesn't do enough for me to think it will win GoTY, Thats my opinion. You cant say it's wrong.
I dont see why it hasnt got you hooked. Its a great game. Saying this games got bugs and graphical issues isnt really stating an opinion, as its a colective thing really. Its either there or its not
I was saying in my opinion the game has to many bugs and does nothing for me and that why i think it wont win GoTY. So my opinion on wether the game has to many graphical issues to win GoTY is an opinion, So dont even try to say it's not.

Asmordeus, Fry, opinions are always taken personally, so in future don't reply, be mature about it and report the post if it's that bad, staff are here to deal with this and will do what we can do get it sorted.
WARNING : So don't reply to this unless it's in a civilised manner

Im seriously considering getting this, but the fact of getting one game a month reallly makes me consider other things. Is assasins creed really that repetitve?
Oh and game of the year, Halo 3 has a good chance, but I hope COD4 gets it, fucking amazing game, with, what I think, are the best gunfights ever in a console game.

The main gripes to practically everyone are mainly the moronic A.I., the seemingly short length, and the inability to swim (though there's not that much reason to).
You should get BioShock.

it is very repetitive, missions are similar and saving citizens is exactly the same each time, that said though it doesn't mean it isn't fun doing it every time. If you are limited to one game a month and haven't got COD4 or motorstom and have an internet connection for the ps3 i would get either one of those. More fun and longer game play.

Which game did you play? The AI's fine. Plus, 40 hours for a game isn't bad. Swimming isn't needed as you don't really come across many rivers, though today, I thought I could swim and decided to jump into the river. Didn't work :p

This is why many people have problems with it, though I wouldn't call it exactly repetitive. You can kill the target in many different ways, and escaping by the rooftops is fun.

I call it short if there's not really any replay value.
BioShock was 20-25 hours long, yes, but there was some replay value.
