When is Tommy Vercetti gonna learn how to swim? Ya oughta know how to swim if u are gonna get in a boat.

i could see swimming being a possibility, but do we really need it? i mean cuz then the water wouldn't even be a threat. and to be honest what is a threat to tommy? no one and nothing, i mean heck not even the military is. in 3 the supposed reason you died when u got in the water was cuz it was so polluted (or so i read somewhere), but then if you could swim how would the cops get you, and dont' even say scuba cops or you'll get whipped? i think rockstar left some of this stuff out, like swimming, changing physical attributes, and car mods because then it would basically Grand Theft Auto Sims....

I think swiming would be stupid. Maybe WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE GAME, then you could probably swim not at the beginning it's just a spoiler even for a limited time. It is funny that a grown man like Tommy Vercetti is not able to swim:p

its not that i would spend my day at the beach with the sand and the wind in my hair, i am just tired of getting knocked into the water by the damn cops. u spend a half hour on a mission, just to get knocked off a bridge, then u cant get out cuz tommy cant swim. it just pissed me off is all. maybe at least rockstar could look at the possibility. like maybe he can swim for a minute or something. just to get out of the water, course then the cops could be waiting for you at the dock when u do get out of the water.

you still missed my point.....you have bribes, crazy weapons, health icons, armor icons, with all that stuff what do you really need to worry about? nothing, at least with not being able to swim you have to be somewhat careful

I gotta agree with cyrix. As much as not being able to swim has SCREWED me somtimes It is really the only thing in the games that means instant death if you mess up. everything else you have a decent chance of avoiding.

With that said.talking about all the weapons you had what if you lost all your weapons when you did swim? Tommy ditches the hardware or sinks?

I think swimming would be stupid. Especially since the ps2 only has so much memory, it would hardly be able to fit more in so that you could swim around the city. I could understand that it pisses you off that it kills you when you fall in the water. I say, fuck swimming, it should just restart you right where you fell in.

Well, I am half against swimming, but when doing stunts and falling in the water when you are doing something like a 1024* rotation from a bent tree or something, and then you fall in water and the freakin shore is 2 meters away, now that just sucks major. So- comprimise: after finished game:
Kent Paul on cellphone: Hey mate! You know that a opened a school of swimming on Vice Beach or somethin so you on't have to go like total nutter "I've beat up a gang, killed fifty cops, flew a ilitary chopper and then I drown 5 meters from shore"? You know what I mean, mate?
Tommy:Sure, you foreign bastard.
*pay 1000, get ability to swim, length of swim imprives w/swimming time, like sprinting, later maybe learn to dive to get some secret thingie, but when swimming, all weaopns are left on shre, like when entering a metal detector at aeroport or golf club*
Plus, a realistic limit to swim so that you won't swim across islands. Plus, can enter boats from water, like cars.

oh yeah sorry....i thought you meant in like 3, or VC you drowned when you went into a pool....i remember one day i tried for like ever to drown myself in a pool but it didn't work. and i still dont' like the idea of swimming......if you can't avoid the water then too bad, you die!

I'd like to see tommy struggle in the sea before he dies and when his life is going down, you hear him say 'help! aargh! *cough*' etc. It would be so much more realistic.

Rockstar North's producer Leslie Benzies officially said a little while ago in an interview that you will NEVER be able to swim in any of the future GTA titles.

I dont think there is any time limit. Unlimited for swimming slowly (normally), a stamina meter for the faster swim and a O2 meter for underwater
