View Full Version : Some work

If some of you guys remember me saying I'm going for a 3D animating and modelling/Graphics artist career then for some news, I managed to get into it. Did it in work experiance and I was asked to keep practising with 3D studio max and to keep updating them with work I have done and to help the company do work for their companies that ask for stuff to be done so practically I'm into it, just finishing school and doing whatever else I have to to get into the type of stuff I'd like to (3D animation and Game Production) and when I get degrees for all that stuff I'll most likely head R*'s way. Anyway, heres some screens from what i did in the last week, its all animated but if you use 3D studio max you'll probobly understand how long a animated render can take... so eventually sometime this week the short clip will be up on youtube and I'll edit this thread when it does.
one thing is.. I could've made my own cars but I had alot of restricted time to do this with having 7 days with my shift starting at 9:30 am and finishing at 5:00 pm so the cars you see in it are a tweaked up and retexured; Infernus, Greenwood and Premieres from San Andreas. Giving them a Raytrace realtime reflection texture and a few tweaks to the body saved me alot of time.... You cant even tell they're GTA cars but they still are :)
here they are:

That's awesome, thanks for posting them up ;)

I look forward to seeing your name in a GTA handbook one day. I hope you make it there.

Oh, nice billboard in the last shot.

They look very foggy to say the least.

You still have a very long way to go before you can make anything that Rockstar will even look at but for a beginner, that's some awesome stuff. And I would model my own cars if I was you ;)

Yeah, Static this is for work experiance and I only had 7 days. I couldnt get it all done in time if I modelled my own cars. I barely got it finished anyway. About the fog, I wanted it looking like a cold, foggy, New Yorky, night time, deserted sorta feel to it. The fog was needed to cause the map is just a big assed rectangle with extruded modified squares poking out of it and you can see off the side of it without that much fog.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

EDIT: Heres the map except this is before all the buildings got textured and stuff.

WOW! mate, I like the town. ;) The lighting on the car on the second oic is good to, very good. In the future I can see you in the gta buisness. :) Keep it up. If you manage to make a whole! map with texture or detail then I will be very proud.

GaF?
The screenies are actually amazing. Fog increased the appeal.

All you need is an someone to code this and we can have a games :D. Also Great work.

Thanks :)
John JJ, I was thinking about that but it'll take to long, worth a try though but I doubt we will. If we do i'll have to make some cars and stuff. Maybe in the future when i get more experianced I could round up a few people with coding and modelling skills and we could try to pull it off but I doubt it.

Wow that's great  I've always wanted to model stuff :)

thanks, it isn't really that hard. Well to me it isn't, I learn't and did that work in 6 days beleive it or not. Before that I had hardly any idea how to use 3d max.

I've tried to do some stuff with google sketchup but it's probably pretty different than 3ds max. If i sometime get an opportunity for a course or something I'll do it.

Anyway keep up the work! :)

Some really cool stuff there. Great job! You should create some fake GTA IV renders or something :P

Heh yeah, I could but getting the right atmosphere would be quite hard.

That's fantastic, where'd you learn about it?

iKlipse
07-10-2007, 01:27 AM
I learn't at a place where I'm sort of working at at the moment, when I get more experianced I'll probobly be working there as a full job. Once I get a few years out of this I should be alot more skilled cause I learnt all this in 6 days, if I do it for about... 3 years I dunno what I'd know by then. What I've learnt in 6 days usually takes someone 3 years to learn so my bosses were kinda like

My main goal is to become skilled enough to apply for R* and hopefully get in.

yeah man, you've done an awesome job! :D I hope you get some more pics up, and maybe more cars and such.. but after a few years, you could apply for R* that would be a great oppurtunity, not alot of people can get into R* just in a snap, need lots of education, and lots of experience, i wish you lots of luck bud :)

thanks mate :)

Heres some screens of it in its early stages that I thought you guys might like to see:

This one here is after we got all the buildings, car, road, footpath etc textured. In somebits you can tell the textures arent completely finished but anyway here:
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/6361/cityinfern uslu1.th.jpg (http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cityinfe rnuslu1.jpg)

Here is another one that I took after the screen above, for the video I thought I'd like to chuck in a little something for a billboard, you can also see it from the alley way in the scene I chucked on youtube that is a few posts back.
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/2540/cityinfern us2ch6.th.jpg (http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cityinfe rnus2ch6.jpg)

This is the city when I first started the whole thing, sorry for the quality, took it with my phone while I had it out cause I was to fucking lazy to press the print screen button..
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/3480/1906071456 at6.th.jpg (http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?image=19060714 56at6.jpg)

And another shit quality picture, this is just the city when I extruded a few blocks to create buildings, that is right, the whole city started as a grid of polygons, then I extruded the blocks to the height i wanted them, nothing hard. But I did learn how to make difficult buildings which is pretty much the same thing, all you need is just to put more polygons and have more time to edit them to the shape you want.

Thats all, to see the city as the size as it was when it was finished (just without the lights and fog) go to the first page. Anyway hope yas like :)

Thats some great work, mate!

Really spectacular, I've tried my hand at 3D modeling and I know that making those must have taken lots of time and effort.

Really good looking stuff, I look forward to your growth in expertise in this field. Perhaps you can start doing people and objects as well?

Thanks :)

Yeah, Lucky, I was kind of trying get extremely complicated and tried to make a random person, its extrememly difficult. Have to have bones, the fingers and hands have look good, their whole bodily structure. I tried making a guy with spikey hair, glasses and a long black over coat... Its real hard, but only practice can fix that.

Overall, it's very impressive.
