I wanted to change the skin of my character in-game to 2-Pacs, but when I deleted files such as the player_face.txd or whatever I couldn't find a way to fill it in with the replacement. How can I get a .txd file or whatever the other one is from a zip folder into the IMG Tool Folder?

This is how you are supposed to unzip at .zip file, right click on the .zip file and choose " Extract to here ", WinZip then unpacks whatever files there are into a normal folder.

I've added the player_face. file and all the others in the mods zip into the player.img IMG Tool Folder but everytime I try to play it says there is an error.

Did you overwrite or delete the files in player.img first before adding the mod?

It seems as if you are not installing the files into the player.img archive itself, you are just copying them into the models folder, you do it the opposite from deleting the files, in the Commands menu of IMGTool you have add, you then find the .txd or .dff file of the mod you are installing, do this for every file one at a time.

How do I install them?

Unzip the mod you downloaded, open IMGTool2 and open player.img, now open your folder containing the files for your mod and (to be safe extract the original folders to a backup folder somewhere) delete each file separately while adding the new files from your mod folder, that's delete (after backup) and add the new file of the same name.

Well i'm in a bad position, i've already deleted the original files from the IMG Tool and I don't know how to place the old ones :(.

I already posted this above...

Do I open the folder containing the files for my mod in IMGTool2?

.:nemesis:.

Yes the unzipped mod folder will contain the new files you need to install.

Well i've added all of them but it still isn't working. What I did was I added them using the 'add' tool under commands in IMGTool and I had all the other things deleted before. Whats wrong?

Open up the player.img again in IMGTool and rebuild the archive, rebuild is in the commands menu, then try the game again.

I rebuilt the archive and I keep on getting errors. Are the replacement files still in there and if so should I delete them?

I just re-read this from the start and wonder if you have a second edition (V2) of SA ?

Nope, have 1.0. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to play SAMP.

Tell you what, post a link to the mod and i'll explain the way to install it.

Here it is.

First of all run IMGTool and open the player.img.

Check that each of these files are in the player.img, and if not, add it/them.

/copy and paste each name seperately into the IMGTool find file text box.

Baldbeard.txd
Player_torso
Player_torso
head.dff

Once you're satisfied they are there, rebuild the archive and try the game.

If it is still the same i think you may have deleted some other files or some other mod has got a conflict with this one.

When i'm rebuilding about how many items should be in the file?

.:nemesis:.
05-01-2007, 11:25 AM
There are 542 in my original player.img file.

Cutts
05-01-2007, 12:08 PM
Well I have 547 and it still isn't working. Would it not work if there was 2 of the same file in the folder?

.:nemesis:.
05-01-2007, 01:02 PM
So you have 5 files too many, search for the files you have installed, delete them all, most likely some doublers there, and an odd one, might be the same file 3 times, you would have to get it down to 542 anyway.

Another thing is that you probably didn't delete the original files.

I've got it down to 542, seems there were a few triple and double files "crosses fingers"

Still not working. I've done all that you said. Could it be the BIGplayer_torso.txd file?

/Please dont double post, use the http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/images/gta/buttons/ edit.gif feature in your last post.

If you have not got any other mods installed, i can only suggest a fresh un/install, unless you delete the files you've installed and reinstall them again, remember to rebuild the archive when you're done though.
