View Full Version : Why I'm excited.
I'm excited, because this, for me, is the first GTA where the hype is massive and I can involve myself. Back when SA was the hot topic, I had never even played GTA. San Andreas was actually my first GTA, got it in March '05 for my birthday. Loved it so much, got VC and then III - then LCS. Got 100% on them all, and consider myself as avid a fan as most of you here, but in terms of length of time exposed to the GTA hype, I've only really had LCS and VCS to look forward to, and as we all know, those didn't carry even a quarter of the hype as IV is going to.
And that's why I'm excited about GTA IV, it's my first GTA where I'm on par with everyone else in terms of previous gaming experience and knowledge, and therefore my opinions on GTA IV can be expressed with a great deal of "knowing what I'm on about." :)
Just thought I'd share.

So it's pretty much the first big GTA Game you've been following then. It's a thrill ride, I assure you. You never know when any news is going to come. Well, it's thrill for me.

I cant remember, but I think I joined the forums about 6-7 months before SA came out. I remember Slim Trashman and a few others being back then. That was such an awesome summer it was unbelievable. We would just talk about every aspect of SA, what was going to be in it, how the Country was going to work out. Where it was actually going to be set! But man, your in for the ride, see you there.
Yeah it's a great experience.
I remember all the hype surronding the game when the screens and info came out.
The site should hire some more staff or we might fall behind.

Well I'm excited because I can experience the massive hype again :) Even though I hadn't registered until Octobe '04, I was always around before and checking for updates, reading the forums, so yeah, I experience the SA hype.

Yeah my first GTA was VC back in 2002, GTA III for some reason just didn't appeal to me back then. But VC changed everything. Then, I registered at the old old old Mod Shack back in 2003, but only for mods. My first forums were at GTAGaming early in 2004 and the hype was amazing. It was alot of fun to be right smack dab in the middle of it. The summer of 2004 was crazy here. I hate to say it, but I doubt it will be that way here again for GTA IV. Site has gone through some big changes, and the activity level has dropped significantly from what it was then. Lots and I mean LOTS of old members have been banned or left. Yeah, new people will sign up, but it won't be the same. 2004 was probably the most active year a GTA website could ever want.

I only just signed up here a few months before San Andreas came out so obviously I didn't have much to do with it and was just a newbie back then, With LCS and VCS I attempted to provide some coverage and bring news to the forums, which I'm hoping I did, now for the next big GTA game I hope I can be here to blast the news as it arrives! :)

I had been following GTA since Grand Theft Auto 3. In about 2000 I had seen the demo for the first GTA on my friends demo disk and thought it was cool. I actualy borrowed it and still have it somewhere. Then in 2001 when my one friend bought a PS2 and GTA 3 I was amazed and instantly hooked. Before GTA all we had played was Goldeneye for N64. I got my parents run out and buy me a PS2 just for GTA 3. I followed Vice City on a different site that I cant think of right now but. Sometime after Vice City I found this site and watched the message boards all the way threw San Andreas watching all the hype and then myths. It was only around the time Bully came out last year and Vice City Stories when I created an account. Im so excited for GTA IV

It's definately going to be fun. Victim, I think thrill ride gives the right idea. ;)
Tons of new members will sign up and maybe a few good ones will last beyond the release date of GTAIV.
Constantly checking for news updates with new info & screens almost becomes a ritual.

I wasn't on the forums when SA came out, But I was glued to the main site, It was my homepage for at least 3 months after it's release. I followed VC through magazines but hadn't discovered GTAG until after it came out, Because I remember looking through the mods and stuff.
I guess this is the first real hype i've experienced too, In the community sense anyways, It's way more chaotic following it on the forums rather than the main site. It's good to have the fourm around for experiences like this :)

udaman, don't post in a thread that hasn't been active for more than 2 weeks. You badly need to review the rules (http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/announcement.php? f=273).
pcrack, please don't make double posts anymore, http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/images/gta/buttons/ edit.gif your post instead.

I felt the same way for gta 2, and that was a complete let down. Whenever I go back to the topdown games now I always play gta or gta london even though I own gta 2.
I doubt this will be the same tho as this is already looking far better than San Andreas.

I wanted this game since they announced it last year. Looks amazing, should play the same way. Just hoping I can get enough money to buy a PS3 by the time it comes out.

I was here as a different member. Dufus.
Then i dont know what happend. I couldnt log on anymore.
So thats when i made a new email, and joined again. :)
My first GTA was GTA I. (WHEN I WAS 6 in 1997) lol
It was the only PS1 game i actually played.
Then i got my brother hooked on to GTA2.
GTAIII, not so much, i got a playstation 2 a year or two after it came out.
So i just bought Vice City, beat that, that was fun.
I evenually got GTAIII, when i bought myself a Xbox.
Then i got Sanandreas the day BEFORE it came out.
THAT, was fun as well.
Now, im awaiting my journey to GTAIV at my nearest EBX. :)
With my latest machine, the Xbox360.

My first GTA was Vice City. I had recently got my PS2 and all I had for it was GT3. I lived close to my friend's house and went over one time, and he had VC. I was addicted to it. It was amazing. I later bought GTA3/VC combo for myself and loved both. Unfortunately, I never really finished GTA3 and beat Vice City using cheats. I had quite some hype for SA, and I would read up info from time to time and even pre-ordered it. Now, I joined this site and I know almost every detail about GTA4 there is to know. Can't wait for trailer 3 and some gameplay footage already.

You're going to be screwed for about half a year.
I'm not excited, i'm worried that the game wont live up to expectations.

I'm hyped as well. I loved all of the past GTA games, from GTA I all the way to SA. And hearing that Rockstar wants to make this GTA more realistic can only mean good things.
