We finally have a tiny bit of PS3 good news after people were saying PS3 games could cost up to $80US spiderman has been priced at only $60, but i still expect to see a few of the leading titles cost abit more.

This was taken from Hexus.com (http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=672 6)-

The CEO of Activision, Robert Kotick, has confirmed this morning that their first Playstation 3 games will retail at $60 in North America, the same price as Xbox 360 launch titles last year.

"We have not seen a lot of consumer resistance at the higher price points and we expect that all of our next-generation products will be launched at $60 price points," said Kotick.

Although Activision's statement doesn't confirm the price of PS3 games across the board, it's potentially good news for fan boys as many were expecting to pay up to $80 for high-end games.

Activision have announced a number of titles for the PS3, including Call of Duty 3 and Tony Hawk's Project 8.

Isn't € more valuable than $? And new console games usually cost about 60€ here. So it's kinda basic price.

That would roughly be £45-50 in the UK, afterall It's not a straight conversion, we get tax and all that other rip off bollocks added on top.

When PS2 was new, games for it cost about $90 here. I assume that PS3 games will be more expensive, so $110-$120?

I remember N64 games had ridiculous prices here when they were new. Super Mario 64 cost about $130 at launch.

I remember N64 games being very high priced as well. Hell some copies of Mario Party still go for around $45 (USD) and that's USED.

I personally don't think we're getting shafted bad at all comparing the purchasing power of currency from years ago to the prices they paid then, to the purchasing power of currency now to the prices we will have to pay. I want to get a PS3, I also want a 360. I'm kind of torn on which one to get first though. This like December I will be getting one of them, then the other around like June of next year, then a Wii after that providing I can get down with the control scheme. I'm still a little "iffy" about it personally. I love the fact they're trying to "innovate" but it's yet to be seen in the grand scheme of things just how well this new control scheme will work.

It looks like all of Activisions PS3 games will cost $60, this was taken from IGN-

"Speaking at the recent Merrill Lynch Media & Entertainment Conference, Activision CEO Robert Kotick revealed his company's plans to set its PlayStation 3 games at the same $60 price point its Xbox 360 titles have used.

"We have not seen a lot of consumer resistance at the higher price points, and we expect that all of our next-generation products will be launched at $60 price points," Kotick said.

Activision's Call of Duty 2 for the 360 recently passed the million-sold mark in North America alone at $60 a pop.

Nintendo is calling its upcoming Wii a new-generation console, and that seems to have kept it off the $60 price tag hook. Activision confirmed for IGN that Kotick's comments were in reference to the 360 and PS3, not the Wii."

The launch titles will cost about 85$ here in Norway. About 10-15 dollars more then a new game for PS2 and 360 at present time.
