Wow, this'll be great :D

Best news I've heard in a while from Sony.

I'm losing faith in Sony. It has nothing to do with Xfire, its just that so far their promises are not being kept. In the end I wll just get a Wii cause it's cheaper. I don't have 600 bucks lying around for that kind of thing.

Xfire is garbage to me. If Sony could have pulled me over for online gameplay this is the kick to the bucket.

What does Xbox use?

Xbox uses XBOX Live which is basically a 1st party online service.

Good news though. It's been a while for some good news which relates to Sony :P

That's pretty crappy... they can't even make a first party online system. Why do I want a PS3 again?

Sony fail at making online gaming services :P

Hmm, cool I guess. To be honest, nothing is going to bring down my opinion on PS3.

Why does it matter if they're using Xfire instead of a proprietary chatting service? If you can use your current Xfire account, it would be nifter to be able to talk to people on the PC as well.

My point exactly. PS2 online service is more than enough for me. Just wish Sony could tone it down a bit and be a little simpler. Wouldn't have to price the console as high either.

Here here! Exactly the point.

It's just that I've noticed, the more the PS3 gets toned down, delayed, or something else, the more PS3 fanboys (such as myself :P) seem to say that "this is sufficient, i like the idea" and statements of the like. Almost anything to show the PS3 in a better light. Pretty soon, PS3 and Xbox 360 fanboys'll be indistinguishable; we'll be having almost the exact same ideals and philosophies.

Nothing wrong with that, it'll just be a bit... well... different =\

It seems as if some people are thinking more negatively about the PS3 as the release gets closer and closer.

Remember the 360 launch? PS2 launch? It's nothing new. The negative press will start to wind down closer to the release and after launch.

PS2 online service is pretty much awful.

PS2 online service is pretty much awful.

I never had an issue with it. I used the same log in and PW for everything I played. And the only time I ever ran into connectivity issues was when my personal connection dropped out. I ran into XB live connectivity issues for the entire 6 months I had it. Which was why I just gave up on it.

Man Xbox took me like 3 months to get working, then I had a month of trouble. Fnally with a new router it worked.

Why can't things just be plug and play?

I still get connection slowdowns and dropouts all the time on live.

I don't have problems anymore at all.

Exactly, I'm just trying to keep my sanity with this launch and remember every single launch previous has been overrated. I'm still very much a PS3 fanboy, even though I might not look it.

But I'm just so tired of being suckered into believing all this, and being left with broken promises. Not happening again.

I got some news apparently the PS3 wont use X fire as its whole Online setup.

In a statement made to 1up, Sony Computer Entertainment America said, "We can confirm that Sony Online Entertainment is in talks with Viacom and Xfire for a single, specific PS3 game. However, there are no announcements at this time regarding any discussions between SCEA, Viacom and Xfire". He continued by saying that the technology won't be used as part of Sony's Playstation Network Platform, "This proposed deal is completely separate and independent from the PlayStation Network Platform, and is something that SOE was examining specifically for Dark Kingdom."

I hadn't a single issue the whole year I played Xbox Live, which was several hours a day. Man, good times.

Yeah I remember the PS2 launch. Bought a PS2, and it didn't work. That's why there was negative press. 360 got the same thing for overheating didn't it?

Piggus
09-13-2006, 04:22 PM
Yes.

And the PS2 faced the same launch shortage as well. There were going to be 1,000,000 units in the US, and there ended up being only 500,000.

There are always problems at launch. At this point I'm debating weather or not to even get a PS3 at launch. But that has more to do with me not making any money right now more than anything else. :/

And, physically being able to "get" to one at launch. Chaos.
