the leader of their flock, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Ken Kutaragi, conceded to the Reuters news service that the European delay and American-Japanese launch-shipment reduction had set his company back in the next-gen console conflict.

Wow. I cannot believe that he has actually admitted/told people about his company's hardware being "in decline" :zero: Could this be the last playstation?

Well, compare it to their arrogance at first, I'm surprised. I also doubt that this will be the last Playstation as Sony have done pretty well with the previous generations.
I doubt it will be the last i stil beleave every Sony PS3 will sell out at launch in Nov, and again at the PAL launch.

Won't be THAT difficult with 500.000 at launch xD
Well 400,000 in North America is more then the Xbox 360 launched with.

Yeah, and we all remember what happened on eBay...
Yeah, and we all remember what happened on eBay...Some tools paid thousands for a $650 dollar console, that said i think at the end of this upcoming gen (360/PS3/Wii) Sony will still either have maket control or atleast be equal with MS.

haha no way. Not yet anyway. It'll take a while for the market to settle.
Dont underestimate the Sony Fanboyism (is that a word) out there, it will take a while to get off the ground but Sony will remain a force. IF the console lives up to hype.

Do you actually think that Sony will have enough consoles coming out to become equal in the market?
edit: you editted your post
I think eventually they will get them out there but it may take a while, If Sony can get 6 million (like they say) consoles out in the next year i think they will sell out. I think Sony are more going for the Hardcore gamers like i cant seeing parents buying their kids one for christmas (if they get one their lucky/rich). But in 2 years once everything has settled and prices drop i think the we will see alot of 360 owners going out and getting a PS3. Then i think the market will even out maybe 40%360/40%PS3/20%Wii.
But thats just my opinion wich still depends on if the PS3 lives up to expectations.
Okay, how the hell will Sony get out 6 million if they're having a hard time right now?
Edit: Let's look at it this way. I got ahold of just a mere 4 <insertsomeobject>, I will have them out in a few days and I will get out 15 by the end of the week.
Because at the moment there is a blue Diode shortage and once that shortage ends they will be putting out as many as possible. Im not saying they will definately get 6 million out like they said they would i was just saying if they did, the console's would sell out in no time.

Sony won't win. Simple as that. In the direction they're heading right now, they have a very low chance of beating Microsoft and Nintendo.
I have to admit, my morale for Sony is very low right now.

No real price drop, but you do have a PSP, 1GB Memory Stick and a game now for $250..

I don't know, I think the PS3 will do big things for the company. There is space for 3 console competitors, so it's not like one is just going to die.
