why no swimming

I'm not sure swimming will be much of a main focus in this one. I won't be at all surprised if it's just an above-water swimming engine. Diving is next to useless imo.

But yeah, we've still got a bit to go before release.

We still have a few updates before the game is actually out (well we got more time for updates now ;)) I think this time around, Rockstar are just showing off their latest addition, Jet Ski's :).

I would think that swimming will be reasonably important as getting on and off of jetskis without it would be almost impossible. Diving can be useful for evading the police of course. With all the water based additions (jet skis, improved physics and spray etc.) it must make swimming a much more major part of the game. Anyway - just another thing where we have to wait and see I guess...

The "San Andreas Saturday" (Gamespot) swimming feature wasn't posted first, I wouldn't expect VCS to jump right into swimming details :P

You should go ahead and read the rest of the thread before you post. The question was:

and my answer.
They wanted to show off the new things first such as the Jet-Ski. Although swimming didnt appear in LCS it appears in VCS because VCS is a somewhat modified San Andreas engine. So in a way they would be only showing old footage in new surroundings. When they wanted to show the brand new stuff.

I believe they'll show swimming in the 2nd trailer, they may think to leave the 3rd trailer for showing the multiplayer features.

How do you think that they will stop vic from getting to the second island then?

I think they will use that again, In San Andreas the reason was that CRASH didn't want you going where you wern't suppose to be. In VCS I think they will somehow link it to Brian Forbes, since he's pretending to be Vic's mate but is really an undercover cop.

i hope some sharks are there circling the second island at the start it would really help explain why it metions sharks in the vice city for ps2 manual.

Swimming is involved in one of the missions (I believe you fall off your Jet Ski and have to swim to snatch a boat, or something like that). Unless they scrap that entire mission, it's going to be there. Don't worry.

I agree there. I think VCS would have swimming for getting on and off the boats and new additions; jet skis. I think VCS will be a really sucess and excellent storyline just like the normal Vice City.
