The car models look pretty good, but wtf is up with the textures and lighting? I mean, how far back do they have to cut the graphics just to get it to run at 60 fps?
That's just my opinion... :P

The motion blur looks pretty nice, lighting looks okay, but the textures suck =\
I don't get how the textures suck when you're playing it on a TV. And the lighting looks perfect to me, not at all overdone.

If that were the case, then what's the point of even using better textures than the previous generation of games? Hook your computer up to a standard def TV and play two videos on it. One of either MGS2 or MGS3, and the other of MGS4 and then tell me the increased texture resolution didn't make a difference.
And what if you're playing it on a monitor or HDTV like a lot of people will be? :P
I just don't see how it's fair for you to criticize the textures of most PS3 games (or most next-gen games for that matter, not just PS3) but when MS shows screens of a first party game that has horrid textures in comparison, it's fine because you'll be playing it on an SDTV. Hmmm... :P
Yeah, better textures are good but right now I think the textures used in Forza 2 are adequate for a racing title. But it's like comparing a PS title and a PS2 title, obviously THAT improvement was much more needed than this one now.
So far it's the best looking racing game I've seen judging from the screens.
Edit: But this is a racing game. Obviously you're moving a lot more than you're standing still.

Hmm... okay. :)
I just find it a little funny how a PS2 port (GTHD) looks better in many ways than a first party game built from the ground up to run on Xbox 360. I was expecting the game to look much better.
Can I see some screens of GTHD?

I just like the lighting in GTHD better, but that's just me. Forza seems to have better environments though. The point is, it's a PS2 port and it can comepete somewhat with a completely new next-gen game that was never on previous-gen systems. Can you imagine what GT5 will look like? We may find out at TGS this year.
The cars look much better than they did with GT4, but those environments make me sick.
Also, those people would annoy me greatly. Should have left them out (except for the pit crew).
Best looking PS2 racing game, though.

=\
People are just added in to make it a bit more realistic, I doubt while racing, you'd even hear sound from them. Surely something as small as that wouldn't bother you o_O
I have issues with people in racing games. Like in Forza they bothered me, but since they appeared much less it wasn't as much of a deal as what I'm seeing in the GTHD screens.

Yeah the people do get pretty annoying. There're not so bad if you're going fast, and the people who run out to take pictures are pretty cool, but if you slow down and actually look at them they look like crap.
The only reason I would get GTHD is if I had a 1080p HDTV. It would be cool playing it at 2000x1000 resolution, but that's a bit pricey for me. :P

Until there's video footage released there's very little you can ascertain in terms of visuals from a racing game of this type. To speculate from that standpoint, motion blur and other likely effects should leave GT4/GTHD (which is horribly lit, by the way, what an inane comparison) trailing...oh and of course as far as gameplay is concerned Forza 2 should walk all over it. Even PGR3 is way better than GT4/HD. It's nicer looking (not that the visuals are even the main factor in its superiority) even at its sub-HD resolution. Forza 2 will be better than PGR3.
There's far too much fussing (to the point of absolutely redundant pinpoint analysis) over early screenshots in this forum.

Well ahoy there Fox. :)
Gameplay is a matter of opinion with these games. I've always played the Gran Turismo games, so Forza felt weird to me.
At first Forza felt odd, but I found the racing much more fun than what I saw in the Gran Turismo games. For realism freaks, GT is for you, but I feel Forza's gameplay is much more appealing. Not that it's much less realistic, no.Yeah the people do get pretty annoying. GTHD is on PS3. That's why it's running in 1080p and is why there are much more than six cars on screen at once.
The most you can run GT4 at is 720p as far as I know.
So those screens were from the PS3?
Edit: Wow. Yeah, they were.

Yes. It's pretty much just GT4 running in higher resolution. GT4 on PS2 would look similar of you could remove all the aliasing.
Well that's stupid. Why not just run the PS2 version with aa at a higher res? Rip-off.
I don't think it looks that bad to be honest. It isn't about graphics for me, really, more so about the gameplay/storyline etc. So this is a must have for me, as I loved Forza 1.

No that game GT4/HD was a remade verion of GT4 upscaled to 1080p running on the PS3, it wasn't made for the PS2 it was just a demo of what the PS3 could do to last gen games.
And Super thats your opinion i personally think that GT has the best gameplay to any other racing title on the market.
Piggus clarified that already. But why does it take a rerelease of a game for the PS3 to improve it? Why not just have it do it when you stick a copy of GT4 in the PS3?

Only got delayed in the U.K. :zero:
Or is it Forza you're talking about?
Yeah, I'm a little confused about that statement as well. Either way, the game does look good. I won't have a "WOHA OMG" T.V. anyways, just a sufficient 26" regular T.V. :P

Forza. It got delayed earlier today I think.

Oh, that sucks. I guess they have to work on the textures and stuff. Go figure :P
Yeah, because textures somehow mean the world in a racing game. They're doing general improvements. As you SHOULD know almost every game shapes up the most the last few months of development.

Oh, and I guess textures don't count as a general improvement? Quit snapping at me every chance you get, you may not like me, but that leaves no room to purposely disagree with every single statement I make.
Yeah, Ignore Feature is now ON! :D
