View Full Version : Diego Mendez (New Character)

It has been confirmed by Jordan over at Planet GTA that there is a character called Diego Mendez. It is highly likely that he is related to T-Bone Mendez from San Andreas. It is also very likely that the man on the box art and on the front of several magazines.

It is very likely that the Loco Syndicate will appear in the game if T-Bone and Diego are there. However nothing has been said about T-Bone appearing in the game.
I have thought up a way to include these two characters into the story very well. Note this is further specualtion.
The Mendez's are a rival drug family (T-Bone and Diego) and they are enemies with the Vance drug family (Lance and Victor).

I read that a while ago, but wondering how Jordan could know that - since its no where in the previews published so far. Only Mexican gangster I've heard about in VC was Pedro Garcia, he used to be Phil's rival in weapon business.

The discussion couldnt go deeper. Actually I made that thread asking how the guys from planetgta.com confirmed that. Adriantgp (from gtaportable.com) replied about the 'source'. 15 minutes later, the thread isnt there anymore. :\
I can see Jordan online there, he probably asked a mod/admin to delete that. :mad:

So you just posted the same thing in GTAForums. Cool. I hope Diego is a great competition in the game. The main thing LCS lacked for me was a primary antagonist (as Ive said before).

I posted the thread there about asking the source of Diego Mendez (and that ended with an mysterious deletion by someone from the staff, just after I got the answer ). That's it. :)

So let me Clarify. So you asked who exactly Diego Mendez was? Then when you got the answer the thread disappeared because there was something in it you wernt meant to know?
You almost got me...but again got me wrong with the cause why I posted. :(
I know Jordan visits & posts in GTAForums on quite regular basis, that's why I thought of making a thread out there asking about 'how you guys from Planetgta.com can confirm that the man on the Gamepro cover is Diego Mendez'.
Before Jordan could reply or complain about (or whatever was in his mind), Adrian from gtaportable.com replied in about the source.
When you told me that the link isnt working, I checked there in GTAForums - saw the thread isnt there anymore (surprisingly it existed just 2 minutes ago before you told me about it) and Jordan was there on the Online list (probably he reported to a mod to delete that thread, you know how influensive he is among the GTA community).

It's been confirmed that the character art I posted earlier Is infact Diego Mendez. At GC06' Rockstar handed out a package which contained 6 Un-Watermarked screenshots (Ones we have already seen). However more interestingly two character arts which had been seen before on the box art were shown with higher resolution pictures. One of these being Diego Mendez (confirmed it was him because of it was named GTA_VCS_ART_DIEGO.jpg) and the other being the girl against the car (Believed to be Laura Shrub.)

Nothing has been confirmed about what role Diego will play. It also seems GTA PSP is very confident that the girl against the car is infact Laura Shrub.

Hmmm maybe T-bone Mendez is is Diego Mendez brother or even better same guy just changed name for some reason?

I doubt, Candy got bigger you know and Candy is not blond. And she probaly is big in the buisness like in VC as in VCS. And people have confirmed that it`s that Laura-girl, the woman that is married to that congressman from VC.
I don`t belive that this is T-Bone Mendez, but he gotta know T-Bone or be related somehow. Same last name and both are lations. But since Mike was about 40-50 years in SA i think that other guy shooting in one of the artworks from Rockstar is in fact Mike. Since he looks like he is in his late 30`s or something older but an age near that.

In the begining of Vice City Candy was merely a prostitute for Alex Shrub. Remember when you have to kill her "Agent" that being her Pimp and all.

Yeah, I first saw that pic a few weeks ago. An obvious resemblence to Diego.
I could never know about this T-bone image actually if Bladexen and Ash didnt point out. :)
Yes, it's a load-screen that never been used.
It can be found in...
Game folder -> Models folder-> txd folder
The image is there as loadsc12.txd.
I wonder who the main antagonist will be since we know its not Diaz, Umberto, and definitely not Lance. I think the antagonists will be Diego and that army guy with Phil Cassidy in the trailer.

Yeah, the army guy and Diego seem to be doing part of antagonists. At one part of the game, you will kill them, as it seems from the trailer.

IMDB has a new listing up saying Kid Frost will voice Diego. It is not 100% confirmed but its likely to be true.
Could mean that Diego is T-Bone (if thats not him dead in the screen earlier) or their brothers/twins with very similar voices.

True. That was very upsetting. They still have Ving down for Vic. Hmm
I don't think it will be Ving because his voice is too deep and Victor's voice didn't sound too deep at all in the trailer. Also the woman with the baby sounded like the blonde woman in Scarface.

Yeah, its definatley not Michelle Phiepher, nor is it Rhames. Maybe its someone relativley unknown again (like we had with CJ) because the voice is not too familiar to me.

I don't mind having unknown voice actors though. It adds to realism if you dont here that same voice anywhere else other than in your game. Like Young Mayleys voice is CJ's voice (I dont mean to be derogative). Where-as Tommy Vercetti's Voice is Ray Liotta's voice. Do you get what Im saying. Here ill try and explain it better.
You think about Ray Liotta when you think about Tommy.
You don't think about Young Maylay's voice when thinking about CJ.
Also by having relatively unknown characters it helps seperate GTA from the real world. This is just my view on celebraties.
Although I think having Celebrities as voice actors is Kick ass too. Just keep away from the major holiwood names. IE. Imagine Tom Cruise voicing a GTA character *Shudder*

Yeah, I dont mind it either. Youre right, it does definatley add that realism feeling if you only hear the voice in - game.
