View Full Version : Vice City PC question (the stupid plane)

Up until now I haven't found a game for the PC that would probably work better with a gamepad than the keyboard and mouse. I am sure they are out there, but until Vice City they simply weren't on my play list. Ergo, I don't own a gamepad.

My question is this : How the frell do you get the plane off the water using the keyboard/mouse only?

I am told that gamepads would make flying the helicopters much easier too and I have it in next month's budget to get, but until then I have to make due with the keyboard and mouse. The plane seems to be controlled similar to the cars with W being forward and A/D being left right. Logically I would think pulling back on the mouse would go up, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried all the other possible keys I could and nothing seemed to get the stupid thing off the water surface. Needless to say it isn't a very good boat and the checkpoints for that mission are in the air anyway.

Help me, please.

use the 9 and 6 keys on your keyboard to climb and fall. The ones on the right side.

Hmm...I tried those but they didn't seem to work. I will try again.

Thank you for the assist. When they didn't have the immediate effect I was looking for I ruled out the 9 and 6 keys.

You just have to hold them down a bit more than I would initially think. For the record...6 to pull back and go up, 9 to push forward and dive. Don't hold either one too long or you will either stall out or crash.

If you want to make additional information on your posts, you could use the 'Edit' button marked on the bottom of your posts and correct them, its like combining two posts together if you made one post after the other.

Anyway, its hard using VC and doing hard aspects of the game (like flying the Dodo plane), for the PS2 version, its different, pretty easy to take off on the PS2 version, but on PC with a gamepad, especially, its pretty hard, you may need a lot of practice.
