View Full Version : Will Rockstar do the same with VCS as they did with LCS?

That is, release it on the PS2. Let's see what everyone's personal opinions are on this. I think that they will, as they would frankly be foolish not exploit the PS2 market with this game as well...
I can only hope it will. But if it will sell good or something it might get ported

Why, so it can make another failure of a PS2 game? Lets get this straight, guys..PSP games do not make good console titles. If you want to play the game, get a PSP ffs. I understand you may not have the money, but tough titty. Now, if Rockstar were to release both VCS and LCS in a special double pack and sell it for PS2 and Xbox with much improved graphics and draw distance and framerate, then yes, it would be good. But come on guys, this game is small and is meant to be played on a portable device such as the PSP. Stop whining, either buy a PSP and join in on the fun, or simply sit this one out. Sorry to be blunt, but I was disgusted when I heard the news of LCS coming to PS2 (and to think I almost bought it). If it's going to be another straight-port, fughedaboudit.

Well I don't want it to happen, but I'm sure it will. So that's the option I selected.
Once again, the PSP needs more exclusive original titles, eventually porting them to the PS2 just makes gamers pass up the PSP altogether, and it fades further and further.
I'm not completely against it being ported, but if it is, they'd better fucking improve it.

LCS was a horrible exuse of a PS2 game but if they do bring it PS2 they might hold it back longer than
expected and work on it. (probably not)

Yeah so maybe these PSP-PS2 ports aren't the greatest games, but it's completely worth it for the price. Plus, ten times easier to play the game with a controller.

I mean it's a bit more comfortable with a PS2 controller, with L2/3 and R2/3.
TBH, I'm disappointed to see that everyone is picky about GTA games anymore. I love GTA no matter what new features may be in an upcoming title or how shitty it turns out to be, or anything. I just love GTA because they're such a great series, and I have to buy all the new titles, no matter what. I bought LCS on PS2 the day after it was released, because my love for the game is so strong.

Well I agree with Slim. The PS2 version might be a weak effort but it's still a great game. Of course it dosnt compare to Vice or San Andreas but its still an awesome game. There is no way I would call it a lousy excuse for a PS2 game seeing as its a budget price game. $50 for a GTA the day its released.. Priceless.

I was still abit disapointed i was hoping they would maybe add some new sub missions and give the PS2 version it own "reasons" to play or atleast improve the graphics but ohh well its still entertaining.

I think they will, I just hope rockstar dose not strip it down like they did with LCS. Rockstar will get more sales if they bring it onto the PS2.
But, PS2 is almost dead :( and there has been no confirmation of them releasing it for the PS2. If rockstar is fast enough they can make it for PS2. But I think theres a possibility of them having to release it for the PS3.

I think London would be a great place to base the next GTA. I didn't use to think so, but now, I think the series could use the change. And don't worry about the music either, they listen to almost all the same stuff we in America do. Plus, I want to drive a right-hand-drive car in a GTA game for once, and drive on the left side of the road. That way, it's not the same ho-hum experience every time you get into the car.
London 2007. Wouldn't it be weird if I moved to England next year, and it was announced the game would take place there? :P

Sounds to me like the only one whining is you. :D It's a simple question created to promote discussion, the whole point of a duscussion forum on any given topic. I personally thought LCS for the PS2 was fine, even though some refinements could have been made. Believe it or not, not everyone is as overly fussy as you, champ. There are a lot of fans out there who don't wanna have to buy a PSP to experience the next GTA game and I would expect Rockstar will see it this way and exploit the PS2 market on this game as well, just as they did wit LCS. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with it being on the PS2 except for the fact that those with a PSP want to have something that no one else does.
And that strikes me as rather childish and arrogant.
I mean, really, what would it hurt to have it ported to the PS2?
LCS wasn't THAT bad. I enjoyed it.
Yes, the graphics weren't as good as GTAIII, but it was still worth the money I spent.
The only person who has a problem with it being ported to the PS2 are PSP owners, and I'm willing to believe you're in a minority.
Mommy and daddy can't buy ALL of us another $200 to $300 video game machine.
Hell I got kids to feed and i'm still paying off my PS2 from 2002!
Having LCS suddenly appear on the shelves for the PS2 for only $30 was a god-send!
Oh great PSP owners...please do not deny us lowly PS2'ers our simple pleasures!
Once again, the PSP needs more exclusive original titles, eventually porting them to the PS2 just makes gamers pass up the PSP altogether, and it fades further and further.
.Thats exactly right They should just leave it on the PSP so some hardcore GTA fans might buy a PSP but seeing ho Rock* control what they make and want money as every other company i think they will port it to PS2 as it would be stupid if they didn't.

Very nice. And VCS (if and when it hits PS2) will also be if Rockstar spends any time on it.
Sadly though, the PSP seems to be going through some toughs times. Hollywood has effectively abandoned the UMD movie market, leaving me to believe that the Playstation Portable may not be around past the end of the decade. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are PSP games worth getting as a whole? I know the GTA games are very good, but the only other game besides GTA: LCS that I bought was NFS 5-1-0 and it sucked...bad compared to Most Wanted. See, too many gaming companies to me are trying to make a PS2-based game first, then cram it on a UMD and sell it as a PSP title (most likely missing a ton of key features needed to make a good game). It sickens me that most people don't take Rockstar's approach to this. Yes, LCS was more of a mission pack or expansion of GTA III (much like the London games for the original GTA), but VCS is looking different. Rockstar is making this game entirely for the PSP, laving me to believe that this game will not land on the PS2 without some major 'refinements' as you said. With that said, if VCS doesn't become a blockbuster apon release like previous titles, then fine, ship it to a console. But if you're going to, put on both PS2 and Xbox as a double pack with LCS and sell if for >$30US. Improve the graphics, loading times, smoothen things out, and up the res so it will look right on a television.

1- Hollywood are only cutting back on the movies not abandoning them
2- Just because movies wont be utilising the UMD's doesn't mean the PSP and its games will be affected that was a senseless comment i mean the DS cant even play movies and that sells well.
the main problem with the PSP is the lack of good games.

Yes games are worth buying but only if there good like Battlefront Most wanted, World Tour Socce,r fight night (is ok) and there are alot of new games in development. I'll think you find PSP games may be taken from existing titles but most would have to be built almost from the ground up to utilise the different control scheme, screen resolution, harware and UMD space. Also once the PS3 comes out we will see alot more improvement alot of game companies will try to utilise the connctivity between the two and release games to interact PS3 and PSP not just with things like the PSP acting as a rearview mirror or as your recon droid controller but i heard if you owned COD3 on both each game would unlock special and unique features in the opposite consoles game.

I've said this once before, and I will say it agian.
RockStar may not have the time to make a PS2 VCS.
As they are currently still working on VCS for PSP.
Then they will be working on GTA4.
And even if VCS did come out for PS2, it would come out like just before gta4. and wouldn't get many sales.
Plus Rock* has to see if VCS makes good sales on psp first. There's a chance the game could come to PS2, but I am not positive.

Rockstar could easily port the game to PS2 its not that difficult and if they did that 6 months after its PSP version was released it would be out in March next year with another 6 months till GTA4 is released. I think it will be released really cheap like LCS was because Sony said they will still support the PS2 after the PS3 is on the market and why wouldn't rockstar want more money?
