i just got finished listening to the video of the guy that was on the phone as the WTC 2 fell, and it made me think about how i felt about it at the time. Since i wasn't around on these forums at the time i want to know how most of the people here felt about it when they first heard. Please don't do any bashing of any kind.

Also mods, if this gets out of hand, please close ( and if you can delete this thread).

I found it quite shocking, you wouldn't expect that to happen, especially in America. Then, after I really thought about what happend it made me a bit sad, sure I didn't know anyone who died in those towers, but the sheer number of innocent people who were killed was sad.

I was very confused.

'Why the f*** would Arabs attack us? We haven't done anything to them!', was my first statement after the attack.

To me, it pretty much defied all possible logic.
It's not like we actually wronged them.

@GTA Mike: I definitely agree.
Even Katrina didn't kill as many people...

It was a realy sad time , i was thinking about all these civilians on the planes going about their everyday activities and having that kind of predicament put upon them , totaly gruesome , and then even more civilians in the twin towers just arriving at work plus all the emergency service workers that had arrived to help .....words totaly fail to describe the devastation and disbelief of the whole world on that day.

Well to be honest, I wasn't really like, sad. Sure the whole situation sucked big time, but it happened far, far away from me (the Netherlands here). I just heard it on the news and everything. It was just another day for me, apart from the 30 minutes I watched the news.

Don't say I'm an ass please :P At least I'm being honest. I do have respect for those who lost their loved ones, ofcourse.

I wasn't affected in any way whatsoever. No family. No friends. No one. Not even my country. But it still struck me. When you're 12 and whitness something like that on TV Live...it impacts you. When they say, "You will remember where you were on September 11th" (or something like that), you'd think that you wouldn't if it didn't affect you. I remember very clearly.

Know what else bothers me? That all these Hollywood companies are just attacking the event like there was no tomorrow.

@Don, I understand what you mean. I was in Mexico when the UK bombings occured a while back. I didn't see it as anything...but for the people there, it must've been something big. So it's coo'.

9/11 was a hard day for me. Being a teenager and I live in Ny. It was a very hard day for me.

Scary, Not really.
Sad, Very Much.

I will never forget that day. But I try to let the past eb forgotten.

My father was killed that day.

He went to help people because he worked in the city and he got killed.

And my brother was so depressed with everything that happend. My brother killed him self.

I am hurt from that very day. And I will never forget what happen.

So when I hit 18 I joined the Army. To help people. And to protect my Country.

When Katrina happend, I offered to go down to Louisiana to help, But so many people were already being sent. So I helped in the best way I could. By sending down supplies such as food and water, and medical kits. I donated 800 USD worth of stuff to the people down there.

And Eventually I went down there to help rebuild. I wish I was old enough to be there for my Father during 9/11.

My duty now is to help people, And that's what I will do.

To be honest, I quite liked the day...it was my birthday. Only heard about the whole plane thing towards the end of the day, and I didn't even know what the world trade center was, and I only heard it from my mates, so I didn't even know it was a passenger plane, didn't know if it was terrorists etc.

So as harsh as it sounds, on the day, I didn't particularly care.

I was kinda like alot of you. I wasn't scared really..... even though i live not that far away from the pentegon. I just felt like alot of peoples lives were taken for no reason. I did though feel like we kinda had it coming.

To be honest, I wasn't really bothered, but hey, i was only 11 :P, but I do see that there really was no need for all those innocent people to die, just doing their daily routine..

Was in class at the time, had no idea what the WTC's even were, but after a few days of constant news and footage of it, I realized it wasn't something small.

But yeah, no one in my family was effected, actually I think my dad's cousin worked at the north tower, but he had to go across the street to deliver a letter when they hit. Crazy...

When I got home from school, it was on TV when I turned it on, and to be completely honest, I thought it was a movie.

I listened to that phone call earlier today and I felt more for the people that went through it than I did before.
I remember when it happened aswell, I had a few mates over at my place and we were playing NFS: High stakes on Playstation and then we got bored and turned switched to watching the TV and we were switching through channels and the movie Assasains was on so we watched that then a urgent report from sandra sully came on and said that a Passanger Airliner had flown into the WTC in New York. We watched the report live and our first words were "holy fuck". We kep't watching it and then the camera quickly moved to the right and there was another Airliner heading for the 2nd tower and slammed into it. I literally punched myself to see if I was awake. Then when that 2nd plane hit we all knew it was a terror attack and we didn't even think people had the balls to fly planes deliberatly into a building. Then after a few minutes of chatting the camera quickly showed the towers again right before the 1st tower collapsed and then the 2nd one to follow. Just wasnt imaginable.

My family and I were supposed to go on a trip to America, 2 weeks after September 11, and New York was one of our destinations. We had to cancel our flights and everything.

Well at the time, I hadn't been to NYC nor did I know what the WTC were. I was a little sad, yes, but I was more confused than anything. Honestly though, the Oklahoma City bombing hit me harder than 9/11 because I was in first grade and experienced that first hand (was in Midwest City at school at the time of the bombing..MWC is an area just east of OKC) and I felt the bomb shake the ground and teachers and other faculty were crying while watching the TV.

But ever since going to NYC the few time I have, and living around Boston, the impact of the whole thing hit me a little harder. Now I have old WTC pics all over my room :P

I remember that day. I was pulled out of School like everyone else, and didn't even know what happend. The teachers reluctantly told us a plane hit a building, at that was about it. I remember I was crying when I saw he rubble and smoke and fire on the news, and was very angry. I also remember when my parents went out to buy a bunch of batteries and shit, so that kind of freaked me out.

I was in a state of shock,it was the last thing i could imagine that could happen over here in the states. But it did wake me up and made me more cautious to think it could happen anywhere at anytime.Horrible day just like a nightmare that i do not want to remember but yet it still has not faded from my mind!!

I just remember being scared that something was going on that had the adults all scared, I was in like 7th grade, and before they told us anything, all the teachers were skittering around the halls acting nervous, whispering to each other...

I was in 2nd Grade. Watched the second airplane crash live on TV, was picked up a few hours later by my mom. It was a while before we came in contact through the phone with my dad, though. He was situated in D.C. at the time.

I was 9 years old. It was a massive shock, waking up and hearing the news. Dont worry, we felt it here as much as you did in the USA. David Letterman summed it up on his monologue on the 17 September that year, he knew everybody had to get over it, but we had to remember it at the same time.

I found this when searching for footage of the planes hitting the WTC, I'm not saying I agree with it, but they do make some interesting points, I just thought this would be a good read.
