View Full Version : Describe what it was like on the first day you got Vice City.
I stayed home from school.:p And my local video game store opend at around 10:30 AM (I woke up at 5 in the morning) By then, Gamespot had its review of Vice City up the night before, and I was watching it in continious loop. Finally, we get to the store, and I get Vice City. I was so happy it was finanly in my very hands, I loved how colorful the Box art was. It was like a decorated cake. I read the back a thousand times, and opend the box during the car ride home and read the manual front to back. Finally, I popped it into my PS2 and felt very excited. I watched in awe at the first cut scenes and finnaly, when I had to drive back to the hotel, I though 'I CAN'T BELIVE I'M PLAYING VICE CITY!!" And started my missions, happy as could be. What was your first day like?
Pretty much the exact same, except as soon as I got home Monday night I was trying to play and talk to Zidane on the computer on the same time. I was telling him the thousands of finds flooding in a once, and then he had me type up a quick review to put on the site for all the people that would buy the next day on the 29th.
I remember my first thought too - it was that Tommy's movements were jerky and quick. I got used to it yeah, but every time I start up Vice on PS2 after a few months I think the same thing and it reminds me of the night of Oct 28th.

October 28/29 were days to remember. I don't know why it felt so good playing it the first time... I was insanely happy when I was playing it for the first few weeks... It was after those days I found out my parents booked a trip to Florida, and when I arrived, I seen how identical Vice City is to the real Miami. I felt like I was in Vice City, nevermind Miami. =P Best. October. Ever.

October 30th, man, the best of my life, I woke up and saw the Vice City commercial where they were playing the song 'I Ran So Far Away' by A Flock of Seagulls and my eyes widened since it was the second time I saw it. I checked my wallet and I had at least close to 55 bucks (enough to buy the game, plus tax) I then jumped up and start cheering for myself. I saw my dad pass my bedroom door and told him he had to take me to the store to get one of the best games in the world.
On the streets, my dad drove me practically around the whole city and I was getting more and more anxious and impatient. We went to the mall to go to one of the game stores there like EB Games and Gamespot. They were currently sold out of the game since it was like mobs of 15 year old teens invading the game stores and grabbing every copy of Vice City they could find. I couldn't believe those stores were out.
Suddenly, a store name popped into my head: Frys Electronics, the sold all kinds of games. I told my dad to floor it and we went to the store and I ran inside and went to the Playstation, Games Section and I found a special display of maybe 50 copies of Vice City. My eyes widened and my mouth watered and I grabbed a copy. I went to the counter, bought the game and went home happy, played the game for probably close to 3 hours. :D

Man, I hope the first day GTA4 comes out, stores won't be sold out, I want it be somewhat like (or similar) to when I bought Vice City but that was 2 or 3 days after its release not the first day it released.

Yeah, thats what I was wondering, isn't that considered bribery? What kind of teacher bribes their students, thats not normal.
I took the Faggio and drove to the hotel, ran over some people, try to do some wheelies... You know

Installed it on my laptop instead. It's depressing when you realise your laptop plays games better than your PC does.
And you still have to play it on your laptop? Or did you got back to the store. Sorry I just wanna know:evil3:

It's quite cool, really. All the blokes say "Oh, my god... that guy's playing Vice City on his LAPTOP! I want to have sex with him". Sadly, no such luck with the women, but it's a start.
Is your laptop quick enough to play vice-city on it?

Christ, I don't want to be riding the white pony. But since you asked...
Intel(R) Pentium(R) III - 1.06GHz
256 MB of RAM
Mobility Radeon Graphics Card
It runs fairly well. A bit of a slowdown when you fire a gun, but apart from that...
that's good for a laptop.
yes, the slowdown doesn't matter.
but you can play vice-city on it and that's all that matters.

Aye, GTA3's a bit of a bugger to play, but still not greatly awful.
Anyway... enough about me.

vice city runs faster than gta3 on most machines.
theyre making all these new games to run more decently than some of their predecessors.
so you can play gta3 better on it than vice city.
No, You can play Vice City better than GTA3:wtf:
o i'm sorry
you're right Don Corleone
I remember that it rained like hell when I bought Vice City.
when i bought vice city, i had to borrow some money because i didn't had the money and i wanted it so much.
BTW: it was a sunny day
You probalby didn't bought Vice City on the day when it came out in Holland. My brother played it first, that was one of the most annoying things thay could happen

The first day I got Vice was when it was a sunny warm day, kinda like the weather it mostly is like in Vice City, because it was recreated to be like Miami, Florida, thats why Vice City is so sunny.
