This is crazy.
They are out of their minds not allowing anyone to take over something that is so popular.
To create a program (VCMM) and then just stop it when its such a well used and well respected application is just sheer madness.
While I can understand your reasons for walking away from this, you are in my opinion, and no doubt many others opinions, doing the wrong thing by not letting VCM continue by anyone else willing to continue running it. :mad2:
But even though I don't agree with certain details of this latest news, I must thank you for what you have done for this community.
P.S.
I bet Decan is just loving this :(

It's only a matter of time before someone comes out with a similar program.

not that i know of.
i didnt even know it was shut down until after everybody! :|
I knew a while back they could no longer afford it like they'd used to (did you notice the ads at the top?) and that they were running low on money, and I also heard that they came to edge for hosting, but I didn't know it would be shut down.

If they had to shut down because cash was low its something everybody should respect. I mean they have to get clothes on their backs too. Idt just have been cool to know in advance so we could have downloaded all the shit before they closed it though....:D

bandwith. some hosts specify a limit on upstream and downstream in which your site can alott. they must have gone over it, and could not afford to pay the extra fee.

anyone been able to unpack .vcm files? I've been able to unpack all its contents properly (thumbnail, installation commands, description, dff, col, ide, bmps, screenshots) except that all dff, col, ide and bitmaps are compressed or encrypted in a proprietary format which kinda sucks. They won't even be giving away their source codes. Can anyone help wiith reversing the compression of VCM formats?

you already did...
the vcm manager just installs and uninstalls those mods for you. im not sure if it overwrote files but thats the only reason i stayed away. besides the fact that i dont use many mods :p
To say it like this, this really really blows. I couldn't get enough of their mods and skins, and VCMM was prolly the best ever happened to the n00b community.
