Wow, really good job with those. Yeah I noticed that the skies in SA didn't really look that great. And if you ever noticed, in Driver Parallel Lines, when you get to the 2006 NYC, everything has a cold, pale blue color to it. And that's basically the same thing with most of SF's weather.

Thanks for all the really awesome comments guys! Makes me smile to know that people love my mod. I've worked on it for a few months now..had to have it just right. hehe. By the way, i've updated it just now.. had to make a few tiny adjustments that were bothering me, so if you've downloaded it already i reccomend you redownload it. Tiny adjustments such as i made the smog in LS less bright at sunrise and sunset, and made normal sunny day sunsets a bit more realistic by making the "sunlight" more orange.

aRTee
04-13-2006, 02:13 PM
Really good job. One thing i just wonder. In Big Ear pics there reads "sunny" why sky is black?
And if you mean its night i thik it look bit too dark if its all same black.

rcguy150
04-13-2006, 02:50 PM
on the Big Ear pic, the time of day is 10pm, which is dark. Have you ever been out to the desert at night? It really gets that dark :)
The countryside and the desert get darker at night than the cities. The cities' sky is a lighter black for the realism of city lights....

Holy shit,
Is it me or does the lightning, rain, darkness... ok the entire night period just look about 250% more awesome?

And the sunsets.

Ok this mod just made my game a whole lot sicker.
I need to take some screens for great justice.

Top notch mod mate, seriously that mod made San Andreas 500% times more beautiful.
I hated the weather before hand but now it rules. Great job.

TheNamelessGuy
04-18-2006, 05:32 AM
But it looks like there's never raining or cloudy, always beautiful weather, even too beautiful. I loved the cloudy days in San Fierro, now they're never there...

Static

Yes there are actually. I got some pictures of proper cloudy/foggy days.

There are still cloudy/rainy days in San Andreas. I didn't modify anything that has to do with how frequent ceratin weather comes, so rainy days should come just as often as they always have, but looking much better than they did. :)

I'll post some screenshots of how cloudy/rainy/foggy days look later once I get home..but I see Static is helping me do just that already! :Peace:

I notice with the draw distance improvement you made, it causes objects in the distance that appear to become more noticeable. As in I can really see everything being drawn moreso than before. I suggest you can find a way to counter that while still keeping the distance clearer than it was. My performance also is much lower in some buildings than it was before.

rcguy150
04-18-2006, 12:12 PM
I'm not sure, but I think that the draw distance with objects is different than the draw distance of the terrain. Basically, carl is in the center of a big sphere. That sphere he is inside of is the sky. The draw distance is how big or small that sphere is... Thats from my observations. I think though that draw distance of objects is coded differently in another part of the game... But I could go experiment with this...

I'd love to see objects (telephone poles, vehicles, glass, etc.) being drawn even further away. The map itself (like buildings and the ground) is fine to me like it is. Shadows I'm not sure about. I keep the graphics on low and only use very high for screenshots.

There was that one tool for Vice City that increased the draw distance. Perhaps it's possible.

Whatever Looks most realistic really, Nice Mod, just downloaded it and agree with the others, looks more fresh andrealish, ...especially that Los Santos Smog. Can someone check this out, dont know if its just a graphical glitch here or if it's because night time is actually dark, But doesn't this church look odd?

m'kay well i've updated the download file... Midday when its sunny should be brighter and it should give a much "warmer" feel to the daylight. I kept cloudy days darker and gloomy...

I reccommend everyone download the new update :)

Heres a hot sunny day in vegas with the new "warm sunlight" now featured.

for the desert issue: have you turned your brightness down all the way?

for the gant bridge issue: yes, somehow changing the draw distance made the gant bridge erm...nonsolid. i'm going to put the original maps folder in the download so you can have the original maps folder again while i find an alternative... Right now i'm thinking of replacing the LOD (long distance) dff for the gant bridge with the detailed, closeup dff.

rcguy150
04-28-2006, 11:33 AM
Ok so anyone whos downloaded my "draw distance" changes, please redownload and use the maps folder that i've now provided. Its the original version. The draw distance changes has corrupted some items such as the Gant Bridge and made them non-solid..meaning you'll walk/fall through it.

So I reccomend using the original maps folder until i find an alternative way that doesnt make these objects non-solid.

Lately i've been checking out and using the Map Editor that can be found on gtagarage.com. I've been replacing the streetlights in San Fierro from those white, horizontal vice city traffic lights to the proper San Fierro counterparts. It looks much more like San Francisco with these lights, and i've also been testing out adding new houses on Missionary Hill. (New area i'm creating basing it off of Twin Peaks, San Francisco)

TheNamelessGuy
04-28-2006, 12:11 PM
Have you messed something up because when i start the game it crashes on the loading

rcguy150
04-28-2006, 12:26 PM
oh snap. I think i uploaded the wrong maps folder...

Ok, well once I get home later i'll upload the correct maps folder for you.

Sorry about that!!

rcguy150
04-28-2006, 03:45 PM
Okay ive uploaded the original maps folder. You can get it Here (http://www.filelodge.com/files/hdd3/42401/Origina l%20Maps%20Folder.zip)

Once again, sorry for the inconvinience!

San Andreas is so picky..if one little thing is wrong within its data files, it refuses to run.

Ash_735
04-28-2006, 04:38 PM
I've also noticed problems with the modded maps folder, the game would sometimes crash for no reason at certain points? E.g. When entering the building in downtown during the mission for sweet, or Entering Old Reeces Barbershop with a wanted level. As for the Draw Distance, is there anyway you could make it long enough to match the draw rates of the original objects? because arnt the objects drawnt just a little further, like 1.2 or 1.3?

rcguy150
04-28-2006, 04:45 PM
i've noticed a trend. If an object is set to draw any farther than a value of "299", the object will become non-solid. 300 or more somehow makes it non-solid... its weird like that. So if i were to retry, I oculd set the trees and etc to draw at 299, and no farther than that.

TheGodfather
04-29-2006, 01:57 PM
Do you have any of them over 299?

And, I found a glitch with the mod, I was flying in a Hydra, and I
seen a vehicle with a few bushes behind it, UP IN THE AIR.
What is up with that?
And nothing ig, probably just an ordinary game glitch, but I seen a linerunner driving slanted IN THE GROUND driving in the LS airport through some of the buidlings, creepy.

Sorry, if these have been posted, I am too lazy to read.

i did, but the game crashed and so i gave up. However, i've added a few palm trees throughout Los Santos and San Fierro... with success.. I can post screens of the areas i've added them to if anyone is itnerested. Imagine the Esplanade in San Fierro lined with palm trees ;)

Lettermaniac
05-02-2006, 10:49 PM
Wow the Esplanade would look great! I love warm climate Miami type places (like VC) so I am a sucker for Palm Trees!

rcguy150
05-02-2006, 11:06 PM
my inspiration for the palm trees was in fact Vice City :) Also, in reall ife if you look..the Embarcadaro (Esplanade's real life counterpart) is in fact lined with palm trees. Not only that but i also have palm tree lined beverly hill streets, too =]

Lettermaniac

rcguy150
05-09-2006, 05:38 PM

I just tried this and I have to say it's fantastic. The weather is actually nice now, and night looks like night, and fog looks like fog! I got a few screens, but the Frozen Bone County mod (they didn't mod the LOD's ><) and the shitty quality pictures that the camera puts out kinda ruined them.

rcguy150

icetuner
05-23-2006, 10:19 PM
Aha, good. Is the file timecyc.dat of SA similiar to the one of GTA3?

rcguy150
05-23-2006, 10:34 PM
i'm not sure. i havent edited gta3's yet, but if its similar to vice city's then yes it is slightly similar. the only difference is san andreas's has different "zones", and different types of weather for each zone. and the weather changes are midnight, 5am, 6am, 7am, midday, 7pm, 8pm, and 10pm. whereas gta3's and vice city's are only one zone, and their weather changes are all 24 hours. (midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am etc..)

If anyone would like to try and edit the timecyc themselves, all you got to do is open it with notepad or any text editing program :)

I've updated the file recently. What i've changed was sunsets. They look more gradual now. Take a peek:

Santa Maria Beach at sunset (7PM)

(Please note: the sky appears to be brighter than it actually is in-game because in this shot, i am looking at the sun. The game makes the sky and everything else brighter if you look in the direction of the sun.)

I didn't notice this before I installed this mod, so i'm sure its the mod.

But now, at night time, CJ can hide in the shadows.

I was walking around San Fierro, walking down a sidewalk, when I heard CJ breathe and my icon turned blue.

I'm sorry if this was already stated. But I was SO suprised at this! I was freaking out. And it actually works, and helps out in some cases. I hid from peds and stalked them, and stealth killed them.

Did you add this? Or, is there something in the games lighting and darkening effects that does this and you didn't notice?

I love it!

I noticed that too! I just love sneaking around Grove Street at night and stealth killing hookers, oh I'm so evil. :D
Now if only you could fix that terrible rain effect, looks like static on a TV.

i was surpised when he did that during testing the darkness too. Its programed i guess for him to go into stealth mode, because i guess its dark enough for the game to register it as a shadow. pretty cool, huh?

Cool?! That's an understatement!

This is, I think, a very important find.

It's so awesome walking down a dark alleyway, CJ being in stealth mode, walking into a streetlight and it knowing that it isn't dark there, then walking out of it and it being in stealth mode again.

I love this mod, but I have uninstalled it because of the yellow hue during the day. I can't stand it! Is there any way to fix it?

Yes. Turn down your in-game brightness down completely. The mod only works properly with that setting.

I been using Gunmods Real FX mod all this time but I will give yours a try and compare them RC Guy ;)

http://www.theborggaming.planet-multiplayer.de/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4296

Edit: ok I have the same problem as others here, the fog aand night system is awesome, but in the daytime thier is too much yellow on everything.

my suggestion is to try to lower the brightness level of the sun or change the sun color maybe to a bit lighter shade of yellow

Did you decrease your brightness? That's why Nite.

Yes game brightness was all the way down, it was stilll yellow all over in daytime, I'm not worried about it tho, I like the one from gunmods Real FX mod. Rcguy150 has good potential tho :) so I hope he keeps at it

well right now im actually working on decreasing the amount of yellow, and having the sunlight be a more pale yellow. It looks much more appealing. I'll post screens soon.

EDIT: Ok, here's some shots of Grove St. (Please excuse my custom changes)

Is my game of San Andreas the only one that has lost all San Andreas save games after installing this mod?

rcguy150
06-26-2006, 11:47 PM
My mod should in no way effect your saved games. Your saved games are in a completely different directory than the data file in which my mod goes in. I'm sure that it wasn't my Mod that caused an error with your saved games.

Ok so its about time for another update. In this update, the lighting during sunny days has been changed. i felt, and so have many others, that it was a bit TOO yellowish. So, ive made it a little less yelloy. I've also increased the draw distance in fog, because i felt it was a bit too thick as well. So without further ado, I present some screenshots of the new fog as well as a cycle of screenshots showing a typical day in two areas of San Andreas:

the 7AM and 8PM shot of a "a hot day in las venturas" still look a bit too yellow to me to be honest (even tho they are the sunrise and sunsets), no offense at all, but the rest of the screens look great

rcguy150

The color of the sky also effects the lighting, so the sunrises and sunsets will seem more yellow, but yes, it is the sunrise/sunset.

It should still be dark at night as how it was. I didn't change anything with night. :)

Ive made changes again. I thought I made daytime too bright, and this time, i've used photorealistic lighting and sky colors. The download for this update is already up in the original post, but i'll post screens in the original post soon. This may be the last update for ahwile because i am pretty satisfied with how it looks. :)

EDIT: New comparison screens posted.

1 question : If you use the stealth feature outside of missions. Can you hide from police/etc without getting shot to death

The moderators will tell you that you can't post in a topic that's more than 2 weeks old. This topic was last updated 2 months ago, I will also probably be getting in trouble for this but know you know.
