when ever i try to delete a file from the list (even after ive backed it up) it says "Dir error! It might be in use.. exiting..." can some one give me some information about this program? it would be much appricated!!!

Right click the gta3.img file and go to properties. Untick the box that says read-only. Ok/Apply the changes and it should work.

Which version of IMG tool you are using? IMG Tool 2.0?

By looking at the error, you are probably trying to mod the game while you are playing it.
