Identifying gta3.img files

Apart from obvious ones like katana.dff, how do you identify which files belong to what? I want to replace a few ped txd and dff files but I want to replace paticular ones and Im sick of restarting the game every time to see which peds are missing when I delete the files. Anybody have a list or is there a tool to ID them?

Can't you just extract the TXD it's associated too, then view it in TXD workshop to see which ped it is?
