Need help with plane interception mission! (LV Mafia mission)

Ok, I'm at the mission where Salvatore says he has hitman coming after him and they are arriving by plane to LV to kill him.

I can't do this mission! It is so hard. You go out to the water to intercept them and then the plane flies past you and you turn around and you can't catch up!

Any strategies or hints or help that would be helpful? What's frustrating about this is that it takes so long to actually get to the hard part. Gotta go to the casino then get to the airport then fly all the way out. Please help! Thanks.

I finally got it! I was so so close to the corona that I thought any second, it was gonna be too late, but I got it and the rest of the mission was easy as pie.

I had problems with it, I think you need to fly in the slipstream of the other plane in order to catch up.
