================================================== =================
SAAC 1.2 - San Andreas - PS2 Controller .ini files (http://www.geocities.com/neveahitallic/Saac1.2_custom_inis.zip) v1.02
Joytokey - San Andreas - PS2 Controller ".cfg" file (http://www.geocities.com/neveahitallic/SanAndreas.zip) v1.01

UPDATES:
-June 29 2005- Minor SAAC .ini update - Changed vehicle alternate fire to L1, so whilst in the hydra you can aim with R1 and fire with L1. This helps compensate for the lack of a vehicle aim setting in SAAC.
-June 28 2005 - SAAC .ini update - Corrected the analog up/down control for the planes and helicopters.
-June 27 2005 - New Guide Addition: SAAC (San Andreas Advanced Control)
-June 21 2005 - added the bike's L1 bunnyhop.
-June 21 2005 - resolved the left analog stick problem...steering doesn't result in camera movement anymore! ;)

Both methods of emulating the PS2 controls are not 100%, so they have their positive and negative sides. Here's a little comparison between the two:
Note: "+" stands for a positive addition & "-" stands for a negative addition.

The SAAC Method
+ 99.5% effective!
+ Supports the d-pad gang controls, pos/neg replies towards peds, and radio station switching.
+ Supports force feedback (ps2 controller feature)
+ Setup is quick and easy.
+ No in game configuration needed whatsoever! (saves at least 5 mins)
- "Start" opens the pause menu, but doesn't seem to close it.
- Hydras targeting button configuration is missing, so it's not correct in the game
- Some people claim to have camera issues at random
note: All it's missing is a perfected version :catspider:
recommended for: a quick way to slap on 99.5% of the ps2 controls

The Joytokey Method

+ No SAAC camera glitch (if it still exists)
+ Supports up to four keys pressed per button!
- No support for d-pad gang controls, pos/neg replies towards peds, and radio station switching
- Setup takes longer
- Force feedback is missing
-96% effective due to the lack of d-pad functions.
note: All it's missing is support for the d-pad, force feedback, and a simple user interface  :wtf:
recommended for: people who have the camera glitch with SAAC

For those who are experiencing camera glitches with SAAC, skip ahead to the Joytokey method.

BEFORE YOU USE THIS GUIDE:
Make sure you have the right equipment:
I'm using a "PSX TO USB" Adapter, which also supports the PS2 controller. Basically, you want something that converts the controller's input connection to USB.

"The SAAC Method" (Recommended)

Step 1,
Grab a copy of SAAC v1.2 (http://toca.game-editing.net/dl?f=saac1.2.zip)
Extract the program somewhere you would like to run it.

Download my custom ".ini" configuration files by clicking here (http://www.geocities.com/neveahitallic/Saac1.2_custom_inis.zip) , and extract them into your SAAC program directory.

Step 2, Run SAAC and select "USB Joystick" under device
Then select my "San Andreas PS2 Controls (Wolfmight)" under Presents.
Now run this software before running San Andreas each time and your controls should be just like the PS2 version.

Note: I'm still working on perfecting my settings file, so if you find any improvements...give a reply or pm me.

"The Joytokey Method"

Step 1,
Grab a copy of JoyToKey (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA016823/joytokey/jtk379en.zip)
Extract the program somewhere you would like to run it.

Download my custom ".cfg" by clicking here (http://www.geocities.com/neveahitallic/SanAndreas.zip) , and extract it into your Joytokey program directory.

Step 2,
Configure your controls for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as follows:

1) Set your configuration to "Joypad"
http://img249.echo.cx/img249/7321/sanandre10cd.th.jpg (http://img249.echo.cx/img249/7321/sanandre10cd.jpg)

2) Open "Joypad Settings" and set "Invert right axis" to "On". Leave the rest of them set to "Off"
http://img249.echo.cx/img249/5480/sanandre26uf.th.jpg (http://img249.echo.cx/img249/5480/sanandre26uf.jpg)

3) Now, Goto "Redefine Controls" and then open "Foot Controls". Use the "Backspace" key to clear the first entry, then hit your down key and repeat the following for every entry. Once you've got the entire list cleared, enter the following controls from the image below exactly the way it shows them to you.
http://img30.echo.cx/img30/6895/sanandre33hm.th.jpg (http://img30.echo.cx/img30/6895/sanandre33hm.jpg)

4) Now goto "Vehicle Controls". Like I mentioned above, use the "Backspace" key to clear each and every entry, then copy the settings from the image below exactly:
http://img159.echo.cx/img159/7357/sanandre43ju.th.jpg (http://img159.echo.cx/img159/7357/sanandre43ju.jpg)

http://img123.echo.cx/img123/47/sanandre4print1cx.th.jpg (http://img123.echo.cx/img123/47/sanandre4print1cx.jpg)

Step 3,
Open up Joytokey and highlight "San Andreas"
Make sure your ps2 controller is hooked up and the red analog light is visible.
Make sure Joytokey is open before playing San Andreas each time, or the PS2 controls will be missing

*TIP: If you are getting system beeps, you may try the following to turn them off:
# Start>Run type: Regedit.
# Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound
# On the left hand side of the screen find Beep on the list.
# Right click on it and select Modify
# Change the value equal to no
-Credit goes to "Oshi" for this tip. Closing trainers may help solve a beeping issue as well.

Actually, the game refuses to let you mimic the PS2 Joypad controls...rather half-ass if you ask me. This guide helps you go above that 50% to a rather 98%, which I'm hoping to get towards 100% soon. Have you tried to use the joypad settings yourself? The built-in joypad settings don't even allow you to assign the same button to different functions that are "required" to emulate the PS2 controls! The D-pad options are missing entirely forcing that damn D-pad on your controller to move CJ around. Someone should have told Rockstar,"What about controlling your gang or responding to conversation!?" :violent:

Updated the guide with the new software SAAC v1.2! Great stuff!!!

That's cool, and I might try that soon. Right now, I have one of those Nyko Air-Flo controllers for the PC and almost all of the commands are correct except for the D-pad gang, radio, and response things. It's really annoying having to press "G" to get a gang member to join your group or hit "R" to change radio stations.

Edit: I think it's almost impossible to skillfully manuever your game through the keyboard without a lot of practice. I always have a controller for my favorite games.

Just updated my configuration files with some minor corrections. Enjoy

I have the AirFlo PC too. I mapped the radio controls to the 9/10 buttons. Honestly, I never bother responding to conversations, and I don't recruit gang members often enough for it to matter, but I'm always fiddling with the radio. The control setup works for me--I miss the analog buttons though.

Hey guys.. my san andreas slow when the SAAC 1.2 works on the background... why :/ ? Do you have same? I shut down SAAC - the game works fast, I open SAAC (before start SA) and the game slows... what can I do ?

I have downloaded teh saac program and file but when i play the game with the ps2 controller the up button = left, down = right, left = down and right = up.

Is it just mine? Also triangle is used to shoot and punch, square is to get into a car and circle is to sprint. Also when i was in the car i couldnt go forward just back, although i think i could when i played it earlier. The anologue controls dont work either.

Can anyone give me a saac file that has updated controls as i am having trouble with them. I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks

Stuart

You need to invert the right axis. The same thing happened to me, but I had to do trial and error before I found out what to do.

Oh, I didn't use this method. I just bought a gamepad and emulated as much of the keys as possible.

i think it was a bad idea to buy the psx to usb adapter, i should of bought a normal pc gamepad shouldnt i? so how do you change the gamepad configuration? do you go to the options in the game? but how do you it so that you can press the button and it is assigned to that action?

It corrects the incorrect defaults the program comes with. This is a must!

They both should do good as long as they have the same buttons.

hi:

im using the saac method and i have problems inverting the right analog stick axis and i dont seem to fix it at all and also to fix the right analog stick thing that when you move it , it moves the camera but doesnt let you go around and stay wherever you want ,like with the mouse if you move the mouse you can just stay any where without going back to the default position. any way to fix this :( ?

oh and thanx for the guide its quite awsome :)

So, does the new update fix any of the almost-perfect ps2 saac method?

Works great with my Dual Shock PS2 controller and SmartJoy USB adapter although I had to swap the Z axis and RZ axis around. Probably because your using a different adapter Wolfmight.

Well, one question I have is whether or not they act touch-sensitive. A little press is a little gas, a full press is top speed. You know, just like ps2. I have AN adaptor, but I'm unsure if it supports analog buttons (or if your mod supports 'em).
