Since there's been a huge amount of threads made about PSP and GTA PSP, I thought I'd clear the air and make sure everyone knows exactly what to expect.
PSP Hardware
PlayStation Portable will be launched in North America on March 24th at a suggested retail price of $249. Preordering is advised, as the systems are in extremely high demand, roughly comparable to the demand for PlayStation2 at launch.
There have been no official announcements about the PSP in Europe, Australia or New Zealand. Sony have said though that they're currently focusing on making enough hardware units to satisfy the Japanese and North American markets before they dive in and launch the console anywhere else. This does mean that there could be a much longer wait for the console in these areas. Some observers have suggested that it may launch as late as September 2005, although I'm more inclined to say that Europeans, Australians and New Zealanders will get their hands on them in June or July. Not the best time to launch hardware, but it is a portable console.
GTA PSP
The game is scheduled for release in Spring/Summer 2005, around the same time as the PlayStation Portable is released in North America and Europe. Rockstar Games have announced that the title is in development at Rockstar Leeds, a newly acquired studio (formerly Mobius Entertainment Ltd.) based in the United Kingdom. GTA: PSP will be an all-new title set in Liberty City, Rockstar's interpretation of New York. Analysis suggests that the game will feature a full 3D engine, although this remains unconfirmed.
You can read more information on GTA PSP at my little mini-site I created over at www.GTAPSP.com
If you have any further questions on the game or the hardware, please don't hesitate to ask, whether it be replying to this topic or firing me a PM! I'm happy to help! :)
