View Full Version : GTA PSP news (CJ!!!)
Gameplay
Rockstar president Sam Houser was quoted saying "Sony's extremely impressive technology has allowed Rockstar Leeds to do more on a handheld machine than we could have ever imagined", virtually guaranteeing that the game will be 3D rather than top-down. For what it's worth, we're prediciting a prequel to San Andreas based on CJ's life in Liberty City, probably featuring the likes of Donald Love and other popular GTA3 characters.
Battery Life
The reason for GTA's lack of loading screens is that it constantly streams off the disc - something that could be a problem, since a constantly whirring disc would drain the PSP's battery. We're expecting to see Vice City style postcards breaking the game into chunks.
Music
One of the biggest draws to any GTA game is gunning down the enemy to a medley of tuneage - but again playing it direct from the CD could seriously sap the PSP's battery life. One suggestion is that the music could come on a memory stick as part of the package.
Controls
The PSP's a few buttons lighter than the DualShock 2, so Rockstar will have to come up with a way of corporating all GTA's controls. With the lack of a right analogue, we're expecting several fixed viewpoint options and a much more forgiving lock-on system.

But really CJ again :mad: It's ok to me if he ain't speakin' liek dis ghetto-style.. And the music is anything alse than rap/hiphop..

in none of the GTA's you have to play the same character ..
they should keep it that way

Playing as CJ would be awesome in Liberty City. Since Sam Houser said that it would be CJ before SA, I think it's going to be awesome. But, he better not talk like that gangster type talk like he does in SA.

Well, CJ has always been gangsta, he just moved from the West (First time in SA), to the East(Liberty City), and back to the West (SA 1992).
He still talks that way, just because it happens a few years earlier.. And watch the Introduction DVD for more information.

I mean he should talk serious since he is in Liberty City. You know when you do missions for Salvatore, and he rings you? He should talk like that. Real serious, and not too much gangsta talk.

Thats because they are respectable. Go anywhere with Mafia, they always talk like that.

I think its cool to have CJ again, because its his life in Liberty when he was out of the hood (well...out of the hood into another).
Too bad i dont have a PSP, i dont think id buy it anyway.

Well actualy in gta2 and gta3 you played as Claude Speed.
And I agree the lack of the right analog stick it would suck! As the things looks now it might be CJ as the lead character.

This isn't news. This is speculation. The website/publication that wrote this used a common trick to make it seem like news: they started with an official quote by Houser that doesn't actually say anything useful; then they put their own wild speculation straight after the quote to make it sound like Houser gave that information too.
So really this report is just one journo saying, "Hey, maybe if it's set in Liberty City, it will be about CJ's time there?" It's no more valid than if somebody here started a thread about the idea.

it's a shame I don't care about playing a new gta game on the psp, hardly anyone cares about the new gta coming out for the psp because no one wants to play gta games on that crappy game boy wannabe hand held console, people like to play gta games on their tv not some little shitty hand held console...end of the day rockstar are just wasting their time making a gta game for the psp cause not many people are interested

Just to set the record straight, PSP will not be "shitty" or "crappy," nor some "gameboy wannabe." The PSP will be in a league of its own. Since it's evident you know NOTHING about it, I will enlighten you: in lay man terms, the PSP will be capable of competing directly with PS2 games graphically. Meaning, GTA will look just as good on the PSP as it does on PS2. Gameboy and DS don't even come close.
So, next time you want to act like a n00b-tendo fanboy, at least try to be somewhat intelligent.

Like many others, I would like to see 8 Ball return, mainly coz he's voiced by Guru and would probably mean more Gangstarr tracks, but he were an okay character anyway and could make a good return.
This stuff appeared in PSM2 magazine this month. I've already seen them copy images I have created for GTAGaming.com and print them in their magazine. I'll go as far as to say my article at GTAPSP.com (which is copyrighted work) played a major role in the creation of their article.
Next time, Future, credit your sources, at least. Or pay me, I'll write a few things for you :p

Well obviously some people do, Vini said he is excited about this information. so y'know, you are wrong.
I'm sure Rockstar will do a grand job of promoting this game closer to its release.

good i can't stand cj, they should put him in lcs just to show you how he died or something, i hate him.

i would hate to play as CJ, hes a wuss IMO. Tommy Vercetti is the best GTA character. And im reliefed you wont have to play as Cj. and instead you'll play as Tony Cipriani or whatever the dudes name is.

so since you'll play as CJ in Liberty City, then the era of the game is going to be like in the late 80's!! in 1987 !! (Since CJ spent 5 years in Liberty City before SA)

cuz Vice City is set in 1986 i think, and by 1987 he already ownz
Vice City, and there could be chances of runing errands for him
