Oh god another 50 cent thread, and as for the reason most people don't like 50 is because he is as artifical as McDonalds food.

It is alright if you support your street credibility by emphasizing how you got shot nine times. It is not okay, however, if you keep repeating it over and over. And if your tracks are more about doing drugs and partying than how rough life can be in the ghetto, you lose your credibility.
Most rappers, like Snoop, Dre or Eminem, tend to make both party tracks and serious songs. Fifty tries to make songs in the last category, but they sound so forced that they become category one. Which is good for general sales but not if you are trying to gain respect in the bizz.

I'm not saying 50 is bad, but I don't want to spend my time listening to his music while I could be listening to Wu-Tang, Tupac, Biggie, Dre, Snoop, Nas, KRS-One or Ice Cube.

Did you really listen to his lyrics?
Did you?
They only mentioned the following things Drugs, sex, cars and him being shot nine times. Every bloody rapper sings about that.
And for being shot nine times thing what the fuck does he want for that? A medal?
50 sucks as he does not have much other on his album then the things I listed a couple of lines above.

Because here in Britain we don't have "cents", but rather "pence". That's just ignorance, clearly. I don't care how many times he got shot in the back, there's no excuse for not getting the currency right when in different countries.

He acts like Will Smith on The Fresh Prince. But at least that was funny. Somewhat.

I do not hate 50 Cent, mainly because I don't really know who he is.

A rapper, wow, who fucking cares.

Tsk, at least I show some understanding for other people's music preferences.

So far my reasons are what's been said thus far.

He has nothing interesting to say. What he raps about is some fantasy life that pretty much nobody will live. And when he tries to be serious....well he just fudges it up.

He's no different than...oh say chingy, or those other tossed together pop sensations.

mainstream rap sucks! grupes like Jurassic 5,SweatShop Union,Swollen Members, they dont rap about cars,Cloths,Money women, etc 50 cent raps about the same thing every time he comes up with a new song cars,Cloths, money etc and in my opinion it suck's.

Mos Def. I normally don't like most rap....but he's one of the best rappers around. His stuff is definetely meaningful.

I used to love rap. Never listened to rock. 50 and Ja Rule killed rap for me. And I thank him, nothing in rap is any good. The old early 90s stuff is great though.

I'm with cyrix on this one. I don't listen to much rap unless it is meaningful. I don't really like the rap genre, but some of my favorite songs are raps songs because of message they give. Mos Def, Tupac, Warren G, Talib Kweli, these people write songs for a purpose.

Why do i hate 50¢?
Why not?

just another random-ass generic rapper, and a poser at that. We've got enough rappers in the world. (waaayyyy to many, in fact.)

however, i will give him some credit because he doesn't have "'lil'' front of his name. THAT'S how you know a random-ass rapper is completely generic.

Are you kidding me? Don't get me wrong, I love Lil Jon's music, but do you actually consider him a rapper? Name one song where he has a verse longer than half a minute. Lovers and Friends doesn't count...
Anyways back to 50 cent. I like his music a lot. It's not as good as the 90's Snoop, Dre, NWA but I stil like his music.

Rap reached its prime in the early 90's, and seemed to die with pac and biggie :(, rap started sounding the same after around '99
I still listen to 50 cent, and i gotta say that sadly, hes the king of
-mainstream- rap right now

I had big hopes for the game, i still like his style, but something about him seems 50 cent-esque
THE GAME'S ROAD TO RAP
Does this sound familiar? a guy gets shot, ends up in hospital and gets discovered by a rap legened
well at least he doesnt rap about being shot as much as 50 does, anyway, why would some1 be proud of that?, i would be proud if i DODGED THE BULLETS

I listen to mainly stuff from the 90s. Easy E, Pac, Notorius BIG, that kind of stuff.

Alot of unreleased albums by pac and notorius BIG are being released long after thier dead, and the remixes arent that bad. As for the new stuff, I wouldnt call it revolutionary music, but artists like snoop, and g-unit have come out with some good stuff. Like g-unit or hate them there is no argueing they have some talent, whether you think they are hacks or not.
