Unfortunately you can't use the d-pad. Yes, I'm also annoyed about that.

I was before I played the game. After a few mintutes of playing I completly forgot that I was using the analogs, and I HATED the analog for Vice City. It's controls are tight and pretty smooth, you should get used to it in no time.

One of my crappy jokes ^^

I used to hate analog, now its all i use, i find it much easier to control. Play hitman2 for a day and you'll realise how much they rule.

i tought u could use the d-pad to say something if some1 talks to you
it's told by gamespot in the Street Talking article (if it was gamespot, don't know the site anymore really)

You can use the D-pad to respond to people and change radio stations in the car but not to move or drive thats analog only.

I hate the d-pad, unless it's an rpg or something along those lines. My friend plays GT2 with d-pad, and I can't stand to watch it. I even try telling him the analog has better control (that's my argument when he asks why I'm so good.)
But anyway, my other friend was also dissappointed to see the dpad didn't work. But oh well, I don't mind. :D

The only reason people use the d-pad is because of it's position. Analog/Control sticks are better, but the PS2's controller has terribly placed controls.

ps2 is the best controller of all consoles, perfect positioning and fits in your hands

Lloyd: If I knew the controls I would post them but I'm at work and don't have any of that info with me.
I agree with Olin the analog is in a very uncomfortable postion. The X-box controller has the analog stick in a much better spot.

I could never get used to the analogue control in True Crime (and I played that alot) I fear it will be the same with San Andreas, thus, completely ruining it for me.

Instead of putting your fingers on the top, they're comfortably resting in the back. And, the left control stick and d-pad are very close to eachother, not much effort needed to move your thumb over.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The analog controls are much MUCH better in SA then in VC. In Vice they were shit but I find that they really improved the analog controls in this game. Some might have a problem getting used to it at first but they are responsive. I hate analog personaly any game I played if you could choose between D-Pad or Analog I chose the D-Pad almost all the time. But after a few minutes on the streets of Los Santos you'll forget that your using the analog, trust me.

Well, I just played Vice City and there are 4 different control options. I noticed that between the options, control of vehicles alternated between D-pad and left analogue stick. Can anyone check for these options in San Andreas please?

Anybody know how to change controller options? I like to use the analog joystick for accelerating and braking... I haven't found a way to change those options yet.
