Ambulance & Fire Truck Bonuses

I read this about the ambulance; (from a GameFAQs)

Ambulance Bonus Items

Save 35 pedestrians and a health refill will appear outside any of your save points.

Save 70 pedestrians and an adrenaline pill will appear outside any of your save points.
------

I've saved 38, and no health bonus has ever manifested.

It says they don't have to be don consecutively.
Is this right?

Fire Truck Bonus Weapon
While not doing a normal mission, get in a Fire Truck and press R3. There is a Fire Station on each island. Put out 20 fires on each island and a Flame-thrower will always appear at one of your three save points.

NOTE: The fire missions do not have to be done consecutively. Just make sure you have put out 20 fires in each area.

I have 24 fires put out.
Still nothing
That note, does it mean you have to put out 20 in EACH of the three areas before you see ANYTHING?

you DO have to do the missions consecutivly. you have to keep on doing them till you get to level 12. imo unless your aiming for 100% don't bother doing the ambulance or taxi missions because they take literally hours and you can't stop an have a break plus in the ambulance missions running over a single pacient means mission failier which isn't funny when you've been doing the mission for over an hour.....:(

well...the only thing that makes me doubt what you say is the fact that....i did the taxi missions and got the Borgnine cab.......withOUT doing it consecutively.

i'm pretty sure you have to do the missions all in one go....i know for sure (liek 100%) you have to in vice an i'm prety sure u do in 3 aswell

The Ambulance missions MUST be done consecutively. The Taxi, Vigilante, and Firefighter do NOT have to be done consecutively. At least not in GTA3.

Okay, I just got the heart at my hideout.
NOT consecutively.
They said you had to get 35.
I had 38.
I took an ambulance and saved two more people.
I was paged that I had a heart.
:p
Oh, and I read more about the firetruck, you have to put out 20 non-consecutive fires IN EACH AREA.
So right now I have 1/3 of a flamethrower.

Oh yeah, my bad. The health and adrenaline pickups do not have to be obtained consecutively, but you do have to get to level 12 for infinite sprint.

All I know is that the Taxi crap doesn't have to be consecutive. And, pertaining to the above post, is the infinite sprint a real advantage?

It's alot easier on the hands and it's slightly faster than the tapping trick.
