We all know of the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and all really want it. So where does that leave Vice City? The one game of crime, drugs, and car thefts replaced by the new "Version". This is how it works in the game biz. When GTA3 was released it was a smash hit sales went through the roof for R*. But later on it got old and moldy. Then came along Vice City, the sequel or prequel to GTA3. GTA3 was almost instanly pushed out of the way. Now Vice City is getting old, and moldy. So comes San Andreas.
I mean these new GTA games are great don't get me wrong, its just the way it works is my problem.
But just posting this to see what other members say about this. Because I am waiting for San Andreas:violent:

That's the way the world works, everyone head towards newer, better things, leaving traditionalists, retro enthusiasts and antiques collectors to fester around in the old stuff. I don't think it's a bad thing. When SA comes out, i'll probably hardly ever play vice city again. But I'm quite happy with that. Life's too short to keep squeezing something out of it forever! There isn't enough time to keep old games in there well-deserved place in the limelight! But if someone still adores vice city by the end of October, by all means keep playing it... ya big wierdo. Nah, GTA III never became obsolete for me when VC came out. Of course I had to play VC for the next few months because it was so freakin' awesome, but I still love GTA III, and I will continue to love VC. It's good because the game's stories are so different. You get the gritty film-noir of GTA III, and than you get the Scarface 80's Miami Vice feel to Vice City. I'll keep on lovin' em.

Right on dude.
the beauty in the gta series is they all have their own differences. though they are improved, they still have some things that others don't. i believe rockstar put them in different times and different series so you could get a feel of each and it'd be harder to get bored of it, besides i need something to hold me over until i see the release of a pc version of SA.

To tell you the truth I like GTAIII Way more then I like Vice City, simply because it seems like the theme is way better. Vice City was a great game and I completed it at 100% but I've probably played Grand Theft Auto III way more then I have Vice City, simply because on the xbox it looks more beautiful then Vice City.
I don't know why this is but maybe they had spent more time finishing the xbox version of GTAIII then they had finishing the xbox version of Vice City, the result is that the reflective surfaces look awesome!
Also probably because it seems like it's funner to restart, like you don't have to go around doing a bunch of sub-missions and stuff like that in GTAIII. It's pretty straight-forward and fun. Where is Vice City is a game that I would really rather not try to 100% again just because it's so frustrating tracking down every package and jump and things of that nature.
Ontop of that GTAIII just had a way better map, Vice City was kind of boring with no hills or anything or big bridges where as GTAIII just seems like a classic in my eyes...
Now, what I see happening is that Vice City will become "moldy" in a sence since San Andreas will feature a way bigger map and the same features as Vice City plus more, but if you ever play a Grand Theft Auto game I seriously suggest starting from GTAIII and then playing GTA and going to GTA2 (Skip GTA london and all that other crap) then start on Vice City. I didn't play in that order but it just seems logical for some strange reason.

Totally Agree. The way R* takes the whole concept, or theme if you will, of a certain time and runs it through its paces to use as a backdrop is amazing. No other game, to my knowledge, is as immersive or as detailed in terms of actual setting

Since Vice City came out, GTA:3 was left in da dust.As SA rolls around, Vice City will meet and suffer the same fate.

San Andreas WILL be obselete. Just like GTA1. When that first came out everyone was like "wow this is the best game ever I'm never going to get bored of it" then GTA 2 came out and they were like "GTA1 is good but GTA 2 is better" Then GTA3 came out and everyone was like "fuck gta 1, london and 2" now when you play GTA1 you realise that the game truly does suck in comparison with modern games. It is still the best game of its era, but its era has come and gone. The game sucks. Same will happen with Vice City, San Andreas, and the next game (probably another GTA London)

Grand Theft Auto Vice City is my favorite game of all time! San Andreas will blow it out of the water! But, it's still gonna be around and be worth talking about for ever! It will never get old!

All the GTAs had their own difference's. GTA1 was cool in the beginning and was fun but, ever since GTA2 came out, it took it's place. The real big difference between games in the GTA series was probably the difference between GTA 2 and GTA 3. This difference being, no aerial view looking down on the player. Instead the 3rd person view. Still, GTA III and GTA Vice City (and also GTA: SA) will be generally the same thing. They, generally, look the same. It's just the feats of the game that change. GTA 3 was in modern time, which gave you a realistic feel. Vice City was the revolution, giving you more weapons, cars, better gameplay and so forth. GTA: SA will surely be better, otherwise Rockstar wouldn't bother selling it. But, will GTA: SA be the revolution in comparison to GTA:VC? And if so, what does that make GTA:SA in comparison to GTA: 3, or even GTA: 1.
