I found the guy who got the record-length flight in the Dodo. He is Andrew Noops (he's on some other GTA3 site).
He does not have a website any more, but the pictures are posted on a image site somewhere.
Here are the links:

Crash land - he said it wasnt his best landing ever, but he did go for 49 hours.

He got as a prize a signed box and CD of the game:

The box is signed by the lead analyst of the GTA3 team.

So, his time was 176488 seconds. That makes 2941 minutes, 49.02 hours, or 2 days and 1 hours of continuous flight. All on a PS2, so I think we can all say that this is definately a fake. These photos would be impossible to fake.

Anyone willing to challenge him (and in GTA3, not VC - the plane is a helluva lot easier to fly in GTAVC)? :wink2:

BTW - I am not Andrew Noops - I can barely fly the bloody dodo.

Man, that's so amazing that it's almost scary. I wonder how he was able to do it for two days. He must have a boring life. :p

My theory is that he would have flown all day, then gone to sleep and paused the game.
Otherwise, he would have had heaps of coffee and red bull to keep him going that long.

...though he did figure out a way to keep the timer going when the game was paused.

Yeah. I think he could have.

It's easily possible, I could do it if I had to. The challenge isn't flying the Dodo it is fighting boredom and your daily life. I do two laps around the city and get bored and land. I'm guessing he paused it while he slept.

I remember back to the days of the bastard Dodo on the PS2 how it frustrated thousands and many thought it was impossible to fly, though some were gifted enough to fly it. The best part was the look on my brother's face the first time I showed him and how he was very angry at me for making it look so easy. He said "How the hell are you flying it, you fly it like its a real plane, that's not even possible!" Haha

I flew the dodo also a few hours in GTA 3 on the PC. Somehow i had leveled the plain perfectley and it just kept flying in a straight line and bounced of the and of the game perfectley straight to the other border of the game. I just put a srewdriver in the keybord and went to school

Flying the dodo in pc version is easy if you now how to fly it and you get the hang of it.

it's not hard to get 49 hours. he didn't sit there for a day straight, all he did was fly a few hours each day then pause till he was ready to fly again. it'd take like a week but it wouldn't be hard to do.

Qoute "Flying the dodo in pc version is easy if you now how to fly it and you get the hang of it."

ummmmm.. if we removed some words = "its easy to do, if you know how" yeah, isnt that the formula for doing almost anything??? ;)

Yah there was no competiton or anything but Rockstar DID think he was hardcore for what he did.

Whether or not he got anything signed, Rockstar paid him tribute in Vice City. Look at the flight rankings you get for flying and you'll find Noops in there!

I saw the early flights (he outlined a special route to take so you wouldn't fly over an insane stunt jump that would jack the camera and mess up the flight) and if I remember correctly he flew for around 48 hours over two weeks.

Rockstar might've sent him signed copies of GTA, but regardless of whether that's fake or real, it's still kinda impressive. When GTA3 came out, Rockstar never anticipated people would actually fly the dodo around.

I heard about noops. I even read about the dodo flying records on gameFAQ's way back when. I never knew he went here.

Longest I've flown is a half an hour. Then I got bored. :p
