this sucks...I thought that when I mod my vice an the new comp there wont be any slowing down of the game, but when I installed the mods the game slowed down maybe 3-5 FPS....so I came to a conclusion...the mods will slow down the game even if you got an gaming machine with a good hardwear like geforce fx 5700...

so tell me what kind of lagging you get,and what happens when you mod your game, post here all the things that happened during the moded game when you play..

I only get lagging if I install too many high poly mods. I don't usually have many installed at a time though, I only replace the crap cars not the good ones

Yep, it's the higher amount of polygons in the cars people make compared to the number with the original that cause this problem.

Although, on a decent spec machine, this won't really be noticeable because the framerate will be high enough anyway.

And where did you get the idea Geforce FX 5700's were 'decent'? lol, they're like shitty budget graphics cards. I should know, I've got one :(

I'll be upgrading to an ATi Radeon X800 XT soon though :D

And then there was me thinking that the screenshots you took have sweet graphics :p. Isn't the X800 the one thats only just come out??

so now we have another quastion...what graphic card is better...

the Radeon graphic cards
or
the Geforce fx graphic cards...

I dont know any thing about those two,but I got geforce and its great.....so when you post tell us what you think which is better in FPS and speed and graphics..

I don't really know what I am talking about, but from what I have heard, Radeon cards are better. I don't really have much experience with graphics cards, by old one was a crappy 32mb Nvidea and my new one is a 128mb Radeon, So of course the Radeon won that round. But its not exactly difficult to beat a old 32mb card.

Hey me too! I already ordered mine and it comes next week!

Anyway when i install mods it only slows down a little but when I get too many the game just crashes at startup. Even when I uninstall them the game still crashes.

The graphics card sort of depends on the games you like to play. I play Halo a lot and the x800 has really good pixel shading (reflections). If you want to play Doom III I would get a new Nvidia 6800. If you buy a $100 budget card you should get an ATI because Nvidia adds no goodfeatures to their low end cards and they end up being really slow. So unless you want to spend $500 on a 6800 ultra you should just go with an ATI RADEON 9600xt or equivlent. Mabe a 9800 if you have a little more $$$.
