A phrase that's said at the start of/during(?) Eid. I guess it means "Happy Eid" or something

Is it to do with that thing where they stop eating for a while, then eat a lot again?

Doesn't sound very healthy, starving yourself only to gorge yourself later. That will really fuck with your metabolism

Ramadan = fasting, Eid = end of Ramadan IIRC (it's been a long time since I did R.E. [someone please correct me if I'm talking crap])

Yeah but I think they eat a lot at the end of it.

They can eat while the sun is down.

I would probably be fine lol

Is it true that you can't drink water while the sun is up?

I think so.

Also if your sick you don't have to fast.

Oh, I thought they just stopped eating for a month or something.
Imagine that lol

eid mubarak

and yeah ramadan means no consumption of foods, drink, cigarettes etc, and no sex from sun up to sun down during the month of ramadan (which is different each year). it's not like muslims don't eat at all and just like the pilgrimage to Mecca, you only have to participate if you can afford to, which means you don't have to follow the rules if you're young, sick or pregnant. ramadan closes with eid ul-fitr, which is kind of like christmas for christians (though christmas has little to no connections with christianity nowadays). eid mubarak is just a saying, it means happy or blessed eid, just like merry christmas or happy holidays. catholics used to fast aswell back in the day. infact, i think fasting in catholicism was still practiced back when my mother was young.

anyway, i'm pretty happy i'm not religious. judging by how cranky my muslims friends were the last couple of weeks, ramadan doesn't seem like that much fun. :p

I live in Kuwait and i am a christian. Ramadan is good cuz we get shorter school hours and now we had one week vacation for Eid. The only problem with Ramadan is that the working hours of the shops are so small. I mean, i had to take my PSP for repair and the shop was working from 10AM to 3PM. Just when my dad gets home. DUH.... But Eid Mubarak Guys, even though Ramadan is not a healthy thing.
