Myths related to owls

This has been bothering me a little. A couple of years ago, when I was up north hunting, I saw a white owl. It flew up to me and landed on a stump between me and my grandfather and just stared at us. We found out that evening that it flew to my uncle and a family friend, they were about 300 yards away from us in their own hunting blinds. The next day, it flew to my other uncle, and only to him. The next year, it flew to everyone except me.

In short, A white owl flew to everyone in our hunting group one year, and the next year it flew to everyone except me. It didn't just fly around, it landed in front of each person and stared at them for a little bit before flying away. I didn't think anything of it until I was telling that to a friend one night, and he told me it might mean something. I've been researching, but I cannot get a straight answer.

BTW: please no hunting arguments, I just want to know if anyone here might know anything about this.

There's an old native american legend dealing with owls that says they're supposed to be a sign of death. If one swoops down in front of you car, somebody's supposed to die soon. Noone in that car died. Your situation sounds odd though, I don't think it's a sign. Just a curious owl. Let us know if you die though, it'd be spooky.
