I'm going to be ordering a PC soon, I have a shit knowledge on specs so I got some help from DECEiFER, by choosing specific shit, but I'd also like your opinion on whether this is a good rig or not. Just as long as it can run games such as GTA IV on a good and stable frame rate.

Pretty damn good.
CPU / Memory / GPU is great
Wireless is fine
The 550W PSU i'm not sure about. But you can always add a new one when the warranty goes

Yeah I can always add this for an extra $44.25:
ThermalTake 750W Evo Blue - ATX 12V v2.3, EPS 12V v2.91, 140mm Blue LED Fan, Modular Cables
6xSATA, 2xPCI-E 8-Pin, 2xPCI-E 6-Pin
That would probably be more of a safe bet than the 550W Power Unit. Graphic card and other components are getting more and more power hungry. So it's a step in the right direction for stability and being future proof

Excellent, that will run GTA IV fine wont it? Other games such as Crysis etc. As well?
The 1GB Video Memory will help GTA4 alot considering it has a strict Video Memory Limit.
The CPU is so powerful that you probably won't even use 3/5 of the power it has to play GTA4. That's what Nite explained with his CPU, he has the same one as you.
Crysis is all about GPU power. People have Dual / Triple 260GTX's and still have framerate issues on higher Resolutions.
You should be able to play just fine if you don't go crazy with the Anti Aliasing or a 30" Monitor resolution

Ah ok, great, cheers!
Hopefully, I'll have this thing by the end of the year :D

Looks pretty solid! Although I know shit about ATI cards, but the 1GB video memory makes it look good...

Yea looks good to me, the only thing i noticed Xan mentioned (the power supply)
I've heard that the 4870 is a good card
The price seems a little high but that's AUD, right?

Yeah, AUD, Its actually a bargain.
Also I upgraded the power supply to 750W as mentioned before :P

Wattage isn't necessarily as important as the amount of amperage it can produce and in what fashion. But I'm sure you'll be fine tbh. Just don't overdo it on the PSU. A lot of people spend extra money there where they shouldn't.
If you were buying this thing today, I'd also say go with Nvidia instead of ATI simply because of better driver and physx support. But since you might not be getting this for a little bit, you should get an ATI 5xxx series card. The new Nvidia GTX3xx series is promising to be really awesome but they're yields are like 1.7%... so for ever 100 chips they try to make, only one or two of them actually work lmao. So when they come out they'll probably be pretty damn expensive. A single Radeon 5870x2 or whatever outperforms TWO Nvidia GTX295's. Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy stuff.
Yeah. Your right on the PSU, but the second option he added had me sold for the amount of connectors it has, i've heard stories with people on PSU's that failed or caused hardware damage or at least instability because of over-usage. So i've pretty much decided i'd rather fork more money than to see it actually happen.
The new GPU coming out like the 3xx series or 5870 are INSANE. A single 5xxx series card running at 7000x4-5000 thousand something over multiple LCD's with games like Left 4 Dead and Dead Space is fucking amazing. I could barely manage Dead Space at 1280x1024 on this shitty 8800.
That's the problem here: If you want to stay on top your never going to manage that. All you can do is buy whatever you can that works for you and then upgrade. You can spend thousands of dollars on a 5xxx series in Multi-CrossFire and you will be outperformed in about 5 months or so.
Your GTX260 is fine for something like this. It's not a 295GTX, but once the price drops you can sell the 260 or just use it for PhysX and buy the 295GTX or a 3xx series when the price is right.

Pretty much. I only play at 1280x1024 because of my monitor and even Crysis with 4x AA works just fine. Just about every other game I play is a console port or a Source game. Console ports typically run at 60fps with 8x AA and I run Source games at 120fps+ with 8x AA. :P
I'd love to improve Crysis performance a little, but that's only one game tbh. Not worth it yet.

I was going to buy that case today :P
Instead bought a non name look a like. Going to be modding the shit out of it.
Looks like a good rig though man. But 1.7?
But I bought my rig a while ago for 1.2
Q9550
Gigabyte EP45-DS3R
6GB Corsair XMS2 800mhz
500GB Samsung SATAII
700W GW Power supply
HD4870 1GB
Asus DVD burner
Though I just noticed your getting 6GB of DDR3. That would put you back a fair bit.
Where you buying all this from anyway?
Aussy currency is different value compared to USD or similar.
But i have a felling your from AU yourself which makes my point moot. If you got that in a whole package it a bargain, if you bought part by part and put it together yourself then no wonder it's cheaper

I don't really care what the price is, as long as its below 2k. I like it being at $1,792 at the moment because I found a cheap LCD television with full hd support, monitor plugs etc. Everything I need.

Why? Putting a PC together is like Lego.
you can see my specs in my xfire profile iklipse, and its simalar to your setup, it will run GTA4 at 1600x1200, with all at max except view distance at 20%, and I get around 30 - 50fps

As I mentioned in my original post, I have fuck all knowledge on specs. Hence the thread. If I have fuck all knowledge on specs, I would obviously have fuck all knowledge on how to put a computer together :)
It may be simple but I'd rather a person who's qualified for the job to do it.

I have to start reading peoples posts instead of glancing.
But yea good choice lol
You should really 'try' it with an older PC or something, that's what I did when I was like 12. Honestly l2diy.
Save a little cash for a USB 3.0 controller, it'll be worth it ;)
